Best Starter Pokemon - Which Pokemon To Choose?

Best Pokemon For Beginners Depends On Your Preferences

*Click on the Pokemon for a short summary and moves.

PokemonPreference
EldegossEldegoss・If you want to help teammates
・If you want to be in the backline
・If you want healing and shields
SnorlaxSnorlax・If you prefer tanks or bulky Pokemon
・If you don't want to die in-game
・If you want to play with crowd control moves
PikachuPikachu・If you enjoy playing solo
・If you want to make things disappear
CharizardCharizard・If you have a hard-time choosing which Pokemon to pick
・If you want to fulfill different roles at the same time.
TalonflameTalonflame・If you want to explore and look for targets
・If you want something easy to use

The best Pokemon to pick will ultimately depend on what role you find yourself most comfortable in. If you want to be a healer and support, Eldegoss is an S tier support. If you want to zoom around and destroy enemies, pick Talonflame. If you want to be a massive wall and obstruct foes while being super tanky and surprisingly mobile, pick Snorlax.

PokemonRolePros
Cons
EldegossEldegossSupporter- One of the best healers in the game
- Incredibly powerful ult
- Doesn't deal very much damage
SnorlaxSnorlaxDefender- Great crowd control
- Unbelievable ability to push foes around Block
- Doesn't deal as much damage as Crustle.
PikachuPikachuAttacker- Extremely high damage
- Safe to play due to its really long range
- Has stun abilities
- Somewhat frail and not that mobile
CharizardCharizardAll-Rounder- Good average damage
- Unite move recharges very fast and is quite strong
- Has limited CC abilities
TalonflameTalonflameSpeedster- Quick and can go in and out of fights fast
- Can chase down enemies fleeing
- Great damage
- Low health and can easily be taken down when caught

An argument can be made for taking any Pokemon on this list. Note however, that according to our (admittedly subjective) ranking, Charizard is the least optimal. If you want to play a bruiser though, he can be a good first pick.
