How To Play Pokemon Unite

What Is Surrendering?

Surrender To Give Up & End Match

surrender

The Surrender option allows players to give up in the middle of the game. Doing so will automatically make you the losing party in that particular match.

An Immediate Loss

Surrendering is still a loss; it just speeds up the match to get to that point. Players who surrendered will still get the usual penalties for losing, which may include deranking in the event you're playing a ranked match.

Ranked Match System

Surrendering Flow

Surrendering Flow
1One player starts a voting poll in an attempt to surrender
2The team will need to vote for whether they're in favor or not
3If 4 out of 5 are in favor of surrendering, the match will then end

Why Surrender?

Surrendering provides players with the option to end matches midway without risking losing their Fair Play Points in attempts to forcibly end the game. Although this is an option, it should be a last resort & not something to do on a whim.

Consider Completing The Game Instead

To the extent that it's reasonable, consider continuing and seeing the game to the end. Remember, that there are many factors later in the game that could turn the tides of the match in your favor! Also, the experience gained from matches you lose can be valuable for future games.

Forcibly Quitting Rakes In Penalties

Fair Play Points

It's important to note that forcibly quitting by closing the game abruptly or idling will rake in penalties and reduce your Fair Play Points. Always choose to surrender or finish the game until the very end.

Avoid Surrendering Before The Final Stretch

Benefits Of Defeating Zapdos
1) +20 Aeos Energy for all Pokemon in your team
2) Goals will no longer require a channel time - you'll be able to score instantly for 20 seconds

Zapdos appears in the last 2 minutes of the game. Not only does your score double in the Final Stretch, defeating Zapdos grants a lot of benefits as seen on the table above. With that, we recommend waiting until you get a chance to defeat Zapdos before surrendering.

Quit The Match

We do not endorse quitting games in progress - do your best to finish a game once you've started!

You Get Thrown Back In The Match

You Get Thrown Back In The Match

There is no option to quit match once it has started. However, if you decide to do so by closing the game, the next time you boot up the game you'll be put on the select screen first, then a loading screen will appear, throwing you back into the match (if it hasn't ended).

If You Try To Quit The Match Again

When You Quit For The Second Time

If you decide to quit match an additional time by closing the game, then the same thing will likely happen. However, you may also get a long loading screen. In some cases, the following message may also appear: The battle has ended. The server is currently busy. Results will be displayed shortly!.
