Bug and Poison Pokemon Rate Up

Starting November 2nd, the boosted Pokemon appearing in the Wild Area will change over - the Halloween event is over and now instead, Bug and Poison Pokemon will appear at a higher rate. Some of these Pokemon will also be able to Gigantamax.

October 22nd/23rd Pokemon Home Maintenance

Maintenance was officially announced for Pokemon Home and is set to take place on Oct 22nd-23rd. During this time, Pokemon HOME will be unavailable. Following previous precedent, this maintenance will most likely coincide with the release of The Crown Tundra Expansion!

The Electric and Grass Pokemon shown below will appear at a higher rate during the month of September in Pokemon Dens all across the Wild Area (as well as the Isle of Armor)! Get these before they go away.

Series 6 Rules Announced

Series 6 Live In September

The official Japanese version of the Ranked Battle rules have been announced! One major change here is that the top 10 Pokemon from Season 8 will no longer be usable according to VGC 2020 rules! This will no doubt greatly change the face of the ranked online meta as we know it!

Requires Pokemon Home (Mobile) To Get

Shiny Zeraora is now available for all players to get for free, but only for a limited time, and only via the mobile version of Pokemon Home!

Pokemon Home Error Occurs

Occurred Due To Max Raids On June 29th

On June 29th (US time), Pokemon Home was hit by a communication error, meaning it is currently unusable.This error seems to be causing in-game crashes for Pokemon Sword and Shield as well. A fix has yet to be implemented.

Avoid Max Raid Battles

This bug seems to be caused by participating in Max Raid Battles. We recommend players do not participate in new Max Raid Battles until this event is patched, as your game could crash.

Shiny Zeraora Challenge Completed

Defeated By Over 1 Million People

The official Japanese Pokemon Twitter account announced officially that as of June 23rd, Zeraora had been taken down by 1,435,283 players, fully meeting the requirements set out. Everyone will be getting this Shiny mythical Pokemon for free!

The Shiny Zeraora will be given out to players from June 30th to July 7th. However, you will need to have transferred a Pokemon from Sword and Shield to Pokemon Home in order to get this present! The Smart Phone version of the application will be required.

1 Million Players Must Defeat Zeraora

On June 17th, alongside a series of Pokemon-related announcements, the Zeraora Challenge was unveiled. This will give players the chance to obtain a Shiny Zeraora, with one condition... One million players must defeat Zeraora in a Max Raid Battle first! This is an event where players across the world must join together to achieve this goal!

Battle Rules

Battles will follow the rules of series 4 ranked battles, with a total max time of 20 minutes and 7 minutes of player time. Note that you'll only be able to play 15 matches per day! The day changes over at 00:00 UTC time.

Different Tournament For Japan

A different tournament will be held specifically for Japan to determine who the #1 player there is. The top 60 players from this Japanese tournament will be moving on to the next round.

A new feature was added to the Pokemon Home application, allowing players to parse through a lot of useful online battle data! This includes Pokemon rankings for both Single and Double battles, so make sure to check this feature out!

On May 22nd, a Galarian Mr. Mime with a hidden ability was made available for players to obtain via Mystery Gift. There is no code requirement, just sign in to the internet to receive this. A second gift was also added, which included the following 4 types of balls:

Head to the Wild Area and start participating in Max Raid Battles! There is a high chance to find a Gigantamax Eevee in these battles! You may even encounter one that knows the move G-Max Cuddle, and has a hidden ability!

Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra Release Date Revealed

Coming On June 30th and November 30th

It was revealed on May 14th via the Japanese Nintendo Store that Isle of Armor will be launching on June 30th, 2020 while Crown Tundra will release on November 30th, 2020. Both expansions will be received upon purchasing the pass, which is available now!

According to the official Japanese Pokemon Twitter account, starting April 17th, ticket pre-orders will be available for the upcoming new Pokemon Movie "Coco", set to release in Japanese theaters on July 10th. By preordering at that point, Sword and Shield players will be able to get a Shiny Celebi and the new mythical Pokemon, Zarude! Information about the English version of the movie has not yet been released.

The first mythical Pokemon to be added to Sword and Shield was finally revealed yesterday by official sources. Zarude is a Dark/Grass type, a type combination not seen since Generation 3. It has not yet been made clear how this Pokemon will be obtained!

Mewtwo Max Raid Battle

Now Available In Game

As part of Pokemon Day celebrations this year, Mewtwo will be making an appearance in Max Raid Battles across the Galar region! While it seems that this Pokemon is not able to be captured, you can still take it out and get rewards!

On February 15th, the official Pokemon Twitter posted an outline of what will be the first mythical Pokemon added to Pokemon Sword and Shield. It is speculated that this Pokemon will be revealed on February 27th, which is Pokemon's Anniversary!

On February 12th, the Pokemon Official Japanese Twitter account reported that they've identified several errors occurring in Pokemon Home. Some of these include being unable to move over Pokemon, and the app freezing upon opening certain menus. The freezing issue has been fixed, but the transfer failure error seems to still be occurring.

Challenge Gigantamax Toxtricity In Max Raid Battles

Gigantamax Toxtricity is a new Gigantamax Pokemon. You will be able to find this new Pokemon by participating in Max Raid Battles! Keep in mind that you must have received the latest news from the Wild Area in order to have a chance of encountering this Pokemon.

Uses G-Max Stun Shock

Gigantamax Toxtricity's Electric-type moves will turn into G-Max Stun Shock. Not only will this move deal massive damage to enemies, but will also either poison or paralyze the target!

VGC 2020 World Championship Date Confirmed

On January 23rd the official date of the 2020 VGC World Championships was confirmed on the official Pokemon website. It will be held in London over the course of 3 days from August 14th to 16th. It was noted that there will be a fee for spectators.

The new rules for Series 2 Ranked Single and Double Battles are available for download now. These rules include the imposition of an overall battle time limit, and the shortening of Your Time by 3 minutes. Also, you will be able to use certain Gigantamax Pokemon in ranked battles. These rules are very similar to the ones announced for the VGC 2020 tournament and will become effective starting January 4th.

Gigantamax Snorlax is now available to catch in the Wild Area in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Gigantamax Snorlax is only available until January 5th, so make sure you catch it as soon as possible!

How To Catch Gigantamax Snorlax

Snorlax is a powerful and bulky Pokemon, so it's recommended you bring strong Pokemon that can resist its moves. A Steel type is recommended. It's highly recommended to take it on with other human players, as the Pokemon that AI bring are extremely weak and will be taken out by Snorlax easily.

Announced on November 27, 2019, a new Gigantamax Pokemon will arrive in Pokemon Sword and Shield - Snorlax! The Max Raid can be found in the Wild Area from Dec. 4, 2019 - Jan. 5, 2020.

Gigantamax Snorlax will have a unique move called G-Max Replenish. This will deal damage to enemies and also restore any Berries that Gigantamax Snorlax's allies have eaten during the battle.

First 90 Minutes Of The Game Given Limited Release

Several outlets were able to gain access to the new games and play them for approximately 90 minutes. During these playthroughs a lot of information was revealed, including the fact that

"In addition to healing your Pokémon through the nurse, you can also have their nicknames rated, rename them, or even delete moves."
