How To Start The Crown Tundra

How To Get To The Crown Tundra

1Go to the home screen of your Nintendo Switch and press the "+" button on Pokemon Sword or Shield to update to the latest version
2Start Pokemon Sword or Shield and receive the Crown Pass
3Go to Wedgehurst station and talk to the station staff to go to the Crown Tundra

Update Your Software


Press the + button on your Nintendo Switch's home screen to update Pokemon software to the latest version. If you have purchased the expansion pass and your software is the latest version, you'll automatically get the Crown Pass.

Dynamax Adventure

Dynamax Adventures are a new multiplayer mode where you'll be able to explore the Dens where Dynamax Pokemon live alongside 3 other players! If you defeat the Pokemon here, you'll get a chance to catch it, but if you lose, you'll be blown out of the den! This is where you'll be able to catch lots of Legendary Pokemon from past generations!

Galar Star Tournament


A new tournament has also been introduced in the Crown Tundra. You can now tag up and fight in 2 on 2 matches alongside your favorite characters. Make your own dream match with this new tournament and get rewards!

Catch Old & New Legendary Pokemon


You will be able to find many Legendaries from previous Pokemon games here, such as Rayquaza, Mewtwo, and more! There will even be some new Legendary Pokemon.

Crown Tundra Version Differences

Purchase The Pass That Matches Your Version


Note that the Expansion Pass has 2 versions and you will need to purchase the Expansion Pass that matches the version of the game you own. For example, If you have Pokémon Sword, you will need to purchase the Pokémon Sword Expansion Pass, while if you have Pokémon Shield, you will need to purchase the Pokémon Shield Expansion Pass.

Version Exclusive Pokemon

The wild Pokemon and legendary Pokemon you'll encounter in Crown Tundra are different depending on your version. Check the table below for a list of version exclusive Pokemon.

What's Crown Tundra Expansion?

2nd Set Of The Expansion Pass

Crown Tundra

The second part of the Expansion Pass takes place in the Crown Tundra, which is a wild snowy area with a treacherous but beautiful landscape. Players will be encouraged to travel to every nook and cranny of this area to find new Pokemon!

Additional Pokemon Update Is Free!

Even if you don't buy the Expansion Pass, you will still be able to get the newly released 200 Pokemon in game. Since you can't go to these areas, you will most likely have to trade for them or bring them over with Pokemon Home.

Travel Deep Within Pokemon Dens

In this expansion you'll take on the role of an explorer and dive deep into Pokemon Dens. Here you'll be able to find new Pokemon, some of which will be Legendary!

New Fashion Items and Hairstyles


Just like in Isle of Armor, new fashion options will become available in Crown Tundra, some of which look very unique! The majority of the items are not bought at stores, but are instead unlocked as you progress the Crown Tundra story.
