Discord (Free)

Discord is a popular voice and text chat platform. It is very easy to use, has great features, and is completely free. Although it is not compatible with the Nintendo Switch itself, you can use either a PC or a smartphone to run it.
Using Discord On A Browser
If you don't want to have Discord installed on either your PC or smartphone, you can instead make use of a browser to make a Discord room. Simply go to Discord's homepage and select the browser option to set up or join a room with your friends.
Discord Mobile App
For smartphone users, you can simply download the app and have it run in the background. The Discord mobile app uses your phone's mic so there is no need to attach a headset for inputs.
Nintendo Switch Online

Nintendo also has its own proprietary software for voice chat. However, this app must be installed on your mobile device for it to function. It also requires an active Nintendo Switch Online membership to use. The Nintendo Switch Online voice chat app is available on both iOS and Android.
