Can Two Players Use The Same Pokemon?

Not Possible On The Same Team

Not Possible On The Same Team

In Pokemon Unite, there can only be up to one individual Pokemon on the same team. You therefore cannot use the same Pokemon as your allies. If a Pokemon is already taken, the icon for that Pokemon will go black and it cannot be chosen anymore unless the chooser swaps.

Try Different Pokemon During Normal Matches

Its ok to try different Pokemon on Normal/Quick/Friendly Matches. If someone takes the Pokemon you intended to play, use that opportunity to practice another Pokemon instead. By familiarizing yourself with the playstyles of other Pokemon roles and how to counter them, you will give yourself the opportunity to improve as a player.

Before choosing a Pokemon, you can use the Quick Chat to show which Pokemon you want to use. You can also inform other players which Pokemon you want to use while everyone is still choosing. Also, don't forget to coordinate which lanes you're heading to.

Practice Different Pokemon In Battles

If you only play a single Pokemon, you'll have a really rough time when your favorite is taken. Practicing different Pokemon will help you become a more versatile player overall and recognize the pros and cons of different roles. Before jumping into a Normal Battle, be familiar with at least 2 Pokemon by playing some bot battles.

Let Your Teammates Choose Their Pokemon First

Pokemon Unite is a strategy-based team game. Even if you are an expert at a single Pokemon, you won't be able to win the battle alone. The more Pokemon you are familiar with, the easier the game will be for you overall. The same is true for your allies - let them pick Pokemon they're the best at, and adjust accordingly.

While familiarizing yourself with different Pokemon, you will also discover their weaknesses as well. Using other Pokemon will also help you in discovering their weaknesses, which you'll be able to exploit.

After changing your Pokemon, remember to equip your Battle & held items if you haven't already. The additional stats and buff may be the difference between victory and a loss!
