Talk to Tangtang

Tangtang is at the Ancestral Spring near a TP Point. Talk to her. She'll explain a little bit about her past, that Ruan Yi's family adopted her, and the displacement of the Stockade people resulted in death and hunger. This is why Ruan Yi is so determined to pursue vengeance against Wuling.

Take On this Boss Fight at Level 60 or Higher

Make sure your characters are fully equipped and leveled before taking the fight to Ruan Yi. Your entire team should be at least Level 60 before taking on this boss.

Defeat Ruan Yi

Ruan Yi is the main boss for Chapter II: Process III, and he's built for it. He's tough, hits hard, and doesn't give you a lot of breathing space. The fight has two phases, so keep an eye out for his counterable skill windows and use the opportunity to unleash burst damage when they come.

Ruan Yi Strategy Guide

Ruan Yi frequently uses slam attacks that cause shockwaves. The best way to completely avoid this attack and get better timing is to maintain distance by using a ranged character.

Invincibility Window

What makes this boss fight challenging is Ruan Yi’s invincibility window. During Phase 1, he releases 3 Xiranite (green orbs) that you must collect to break his invulnerable state.

AoE Attacks

This is one of Ruan Yi’s strongest combos, but it’s relatively easy to avoid. If you’re using a ranged character, you’ll notice the attack is heavily telegraphed, giving you plenty of time to dodge before it lands. He follows it up with an AoE blast, which you can also evade with a well‑timed dodge.

Ruan Yi's Phase 2

Ruan Yi will regain half of his HP to start phase two. He's even more powered up this time, and summons corrupted branches, which you'll need to purify by collecting more Xiranite (green orbs) across the battlefield. This time, however, it's mixed with Wrothful Roots of Bane that explode if you get too close.

Collecting all of the orbs will remove Ruan Yi from his powered-up state, and staggers him to set up your barrage of ultimates.

Return to the Ancestral Spring and Find Tangtang

After beating Ruan Yi, a bittersweet moment with Tangtang and the Endfielders will play out, which will wrap up this mission and set the stage towards Nefarith and Adashir's more sinister plans.

Wuling Expansion Core Unlocked

Completing this mission rewards you with the Wuling Expansion Core, which unlocks additional AIC tech nodes specific to Wuling, including access to Hydro Mining.
