Enemies in the Umbral Monument have powerful attacks, so it's recommended to include characters with healing skills in your team. Since healing items are banned in Agony Mode, you have to rely entirely on skills to stay alive.

Some stages will swarm you with small mobs. Having a character who can pull enemies together is huge, allowing you to group them up and wipe them out instantly.
How to Progress in Umbral Monument
- Select Up to 4 Characters to Form a Team
- Items are restricted in Agony Mode
- Buffing with dishes is highly recommended - Check the Stage Details and Start the Battle
- Defeat All Enemies Within the Time Limit
- Clear Normal Mode to Unlock Agony Mode
Just like standard combat, you will deploy a 4-person squad in Umbral Monument. As this is high-difficulty content, you should prioritize including healers and support characters. Units that can group enemies (crowd control), such as Gilberta, are also highly recommended.
Best Team Comps
It is also highly recommended to consume dishes that provide temporary stat boosts. Since they can significantly increase your damage output, try farming the necessary materials to cook them if you are struggling to clear a stage.

In Umbral Monument's Agony Mode, you are prohibited from using recovery items or other Tacticals. You must build a team that can sustain itself without items, primarily by relying on characters with strong healing abilities.

Before entering battle, verify the recommended character level, stage mechanics, and enemy intel on the stage screen. Use this information to adjust your team accordingly.
Your objective is to eliminate all enemies within the time limit. Since encounters consist of multiple enemy waves or groups, maintain optimal positioning and utilize crowd-control or grouping abilities to maximize multi-target damage efficiency.
If you want to restart a stage, select the Restart icon in the upper-left corner of the screen. You can quickly restart from there without returning to the stage selection screen.
Obtain the designated rewards for each stage upon first clear. There are no repeat or farming rewards, so all available rewards can be claimed by completing each stage once.
Clearing a stage in Normal Mode unlocks its corresponding Agony Mode. The difficulty spikes significantly, so make sure you prepare your team and gear thoroughly before attempting it.

Clearing all stages in Normal Mode awards the Series Medal. Completing all stages in Agony Mode upgrades the medal, giving it a more elaborate appearance.

The Umbral Monument provides identical first-clear rewards across all stages and difficulty levels. First-clear rewards are the only permanent rewards available; no additional rewards are granted for repeat completions.
Monumental Etching: Old Wounds | Limited-Time Rewards
In the Umbral Monument, limited-time rewards can be obtained through the "Monumental Etching: Old Wounds" event. This event can be accessed from the event menu.

What is the Umbral Monument?
A Permanent High-Difficulty Content
The Umbral Monument is a permanent, high-difficulty combat feature with periodic updates. It is structured into Series, with each Series containing multiple stages that must be completed sequentially.

Comes in Two Modes: Normal and Agony
Each stage offers two difficulty modes: Normal and Agony. Clearing Normal Mode unlocks Agony Mode, where you can face stronger enemies and greater challenges.
Obtain Time-Limited Rewards
The Umbral Monument is permanent content, but some rewards are time-limited and can only be obtained during the version in which they are introduced. Time-limited rewards can be checked and claimed from the "Monumental Etching: Old Wounds" event.
How to Unlock Umbral Monument
"Paving the Way" and Authority Lv. 30

The Umbral Monument unlocks after completing Main Story Chapter 1, Process II, "Paving the Way," and reaching Authority Level 30. If it's locked, check your story progress and current Authority Level.
Unlocked in the Mission 'Umbral Monument'
Once the unlock requirements are fulfilled, the 'Umbral Monument' mission becomes available. Speak with Sergio Leon at the Valley IV Hub Base to unlock access to the Umbral Monument.
