Attack + Set Up Rocks Simultaneously

Move G-Max Stonesurge water Icon
Effect Attacks and lays rocks on the opponent's side of the battlefield.

This Drednaw-exclusive move allows you to attack and set up Stealth Rock at the same time, making it more difficult for your opponent to switch in Pokemon, and ruining the effect of Focus Sash. Use this move as fast as possible!

Get Incredible Speed With Swift Swim

If you use the ability Swift Swim, you'll be even faster than Ludicolo in the rain. However, since you won't be able to set up your own rain, you'll need to have another Pokemon to do it for you. Additionally, since you'll need to invest heavily in Attack/Speed, your defenses will suffer as a result too.

How To Play Against Drednaw

Hit Its Weak Defenses

Drednaw's overall defensive base stats aren't too high (especially its Sp.Def.) It is also 2x weak to Electric and Fighting, two very common move types, and 4x weak to Grass. It sometimes runs Counter, so it's recommended that you take it on with a Special move.

Resist Its Main Moves

Bring out a Pokemon that resists Water and Rock moves to make the battle as smooth as possible. It doesn't have any recovery moves, so you should be able to win in the exchange eventually.
