A Dynamaxing Hustler
Max Moves always hit their target, meaning they don't suffer any drawbacks from Hustle and reap all its benefits. This is a Pokemon that really relies on Dynamaxing, so it's not recommended to run it with other Dynamax users.
Wide Move Coverage
In addition to its Electric and Dragon type moves, Dracozolt has access to flying, ground, rock, and fire moves. This makes it a highly customizable Pokemon with many options. It's even able to use Taunt, Thunder Wave, and Substitute. Dracozolt excels at targetting the opponent's weaknesses and can act as a counter to many physical tanks as well.
Bolt Beak Needs Max Airstream
Bolt Beak is an attack similar to Fishious Rend, which doubles its damage if the user strikes first. For this reason, it's recommended that you set up a speed boost with Max Airstream before using it.

Max Attack and Speed
Generally speaking, maxing out Speed and Attack is a safe bet for this build. If you're using Rock Tomb, you could also try adjusting your speed so that Dracozolt always outspeeds a specific potential opponent after one Rock Tomb.
Counters Common Rotoms
Rotom is quite popular in the current meta due to its form-changing flexibility (the three most common ones being Heat Rotom, Wash Rotom, and Fan Rotom). The Assault Vest build gives up some of its versatility in order to specialize in taking out Rotom. Volt Absorb negates the effects of Volt Switch and Dracozolt resists Water and Fire moves. Due to this, Dracozolt pairs extremely well with Corviknight, since it can cover many of its weaknesses.
Strong Against Tanky Pokemon Too
Since tankier Pokemon tend to have a lower speed stat, Dracozolt can outspeed and overpower them with Bolt Beak. If you continue to have trouble with tanks, we also recommend running Taunt as well (you'll have to choose a different item for this, however.)

Dracozolt - Recommended Natures
Nature | Traits |
---|---|
Jolly | Speed↑ / Sp.Atk↓ With a low 75 speed, Dracozolt needs all the speed help it can get. |
Adamant | Atk↑ / Sp.Atk↓ Assault Vest variants are a bit bulkier, so they can take a hit and choose to do more damage instead. |
Which Nature Would You Recommend?
Recommended Base Point (EV) Allocation
Hustle and Volt Absorb Builds
Stat | Base Point |
---|---|
Attack | 252 points (max) |
Speed | 252 points |
Defense | 4 points |
Both of the above builds benefit from the same basic 252 Atk / 252 Speed spread. The speed EVs are particularly important to ensure Bolt Beak hits for double damage as much as possible.

---|---|
Dragapult | Pros - Non-scarf Dragapult is faster than even Scarf Dracozolt. - One shot with most Dragon moves Cons - Also weak to Dragon moves itself |
Excadrill | Pros - Scarf Excadrill can outspeed and one shot with Earthquake - Immune to electric moves Cons - If switch-in is predicted, could get hit with a Flamethrower |
Mimikyu | Pros - Mimikyu is faster - Fairy type moves are super effective Cons - None in particular |
Galarian Corsola | Pros - Will-o-Wisp and Strength Sap can lower its attack Cons - Struggles to deal with Taunt and Substitute |
How To Play Against Dracozolt
Don't Send Out Slower Pokemon
Dracozolt's Bolt Beak will demolish Pokemon that are slower than it, so as a result don't send anything out with less than 75 base speed. Try to take it out ASAP with a super effective move. However, be careful as it tends to Dynamax, allowing it to withstand an otherwise lethal hit. For this reason we recommend a Focus Sash user to take it out.
Bring Out Corsola
Galarian Corsola can demolish Dracozolt by lowering its attack with Will-o-Wisp and Strength Sap. Although Taunt is a bit of a problem, choosing Corsola is better than relying on Ferrothorn and Toxapex, who are weak to Fire Punch and Bolt Beak respectively.
Watch Out For Corviknight
Corviknight and Dracozolt are a particularly excellent match, meaning you'll see them together a lot in the meta. Prepare Dark, Ice, and Ghost moves, as they won't be resisted by either Pokemon.

How To Get Dracozolt
Unfortunately, getting Dracozolt is a little bit more difficult than most Pokemon, due to it being a fossil. This means it cannot be bred, not even with Ditto! Your only option here is to get lots of Fossils and keep making new ones until they have decent IVs.

We recommend prioritizing the Attack and Speed IVs when making a new Dracozolt. Then, level it up to 100 immediately to gain access to Hyper Training.
