Wash Rotom Strengths

Wash Rotom's great Electric/Water typing gives it only one weakness. With good defensive stats & 105 Special Attack, it can withstand hits and also has the incredible ability Levitate. In doubles, this Pokemon pairs well with Excadrill.

Powerful Volt Switch

A Choice Specs Volt Switch deals a surprising amount of damage and can leave a serious dent for your follow-up Pokemon to benefit from. You can deal unexpectedly large hits to your opponents, since they won't be sure if you're Specs or Choice Scarf build from the preview screen.

Deals Well With Ground Types

Most players will be inclined to swap in a Ground type to dodge Electric moves, but Wash Rotom makes this more difficult with its access to Hydro Pump. Anticipate a potential Ground-type switch in with your powerful STAB Water move.

Recommended Moves

Volt Switch

Shadow Ball

Timid Is The Safer Option

When running a Choice Scarf, you retain the option of going Modest for more damage, but you lose the ability to outspeed a Jolly Dragapult and a non Speed nature Scarfed Galarian Darmanitan. Since both of these tend to be important matchups, Timid is somewhat more reliable.

Hit And Run With Volt Switch

Your incredible speed from the Choice Scarf will let you get the first hit with Volt Switch in most cases. Apply pressure to your opponents and switch into a favorable matchup. Try to predict the opponent's switch and get a Hydro Pump off vs. Ground types.

Trick and Will-o-Wisp Both Viable

Running Trick will allow you to disable troublesome tanks who might spam recovery or set-up moves. Running Will-o-Wisp also gives you the choice of disabling a physical attacker before they set up on your team. If running Will-o-Wisp, you'll need to Dynamax in order to break out of the Scarf move restriction!

Max Sp.Atk and HP

Focus on survivability and put 252 points into HP to best utilize this build. Putting only a few points in Speed is at best a half measure; you won't be be able to outspeed the things you need to. If you value speed, consider running one of the other 2 builds listed here.

Make Use Of Its Great Defensives

If we don't consider Mold Breaker users, Wash Rotom's only weakness is Grass. By equipping an Assault Vest, you'll be able to stand up against most special attackers. In unfavorable matchups, you still have the option of Volt Switching out, which is quite useful.

Switching In Can Be Dangerous

Assault Vest builds have the draw back of lower speed, meaning you'll likely be unable to go first and take two hits swapping in. Go with the assumption that you'll be attacking 2nd and choose your moment to switch in carefully.
