Heat Rotom's Strengths

Heat Rotom has well balanced Base Stats with high Defense and Sp.Defense. Fire type sp. attacks are very effective toward common threats like Galarian Darmanitan and Ferrothorn. Heat Rotom can be sent out first and quickly swapped with Volt Switch if you've encountered an unfavorable matchup.

Often Gets The First Hit

This Scarf variant can get the first hit on the fastest Dragapult (non-Scarf), as well as a Gyarados with +1 speed! If the opponent doesn't know you've got a Scarf, you can get a surprise attack off. However, even if they see through you plan, you can get an easy chance to predict your opponent's switch.

Trick Scarf Onto Tanks

You can completely disable a tank such as Galarian Corsola by Tricking a Scarf onto them!

Max Out Defense And HP

Heat Rotom's base 107 defense is already good enough on its own, so further supplementation with EVs and a Nature will ensure that it can take massive hits. Keep in mind that you can swap Defense for Sp. Defense if necessary.

Wear Opponents Down

Switch into a physical attacker you can take hits from and then proceed to apply pressure with Volt Switch or Will-o-Wisp. Repeat this with all of your opponents Pokemon to weaken their team!

Learned Nasty Plot In Gen 8

The Rotom family was lucky enough to learn the move Nasty Plot in this generation. If you use this move while predicting your opponent's swapouts, you can get excellent damage while also being exceptionally tanky. Using Nasty Plot will limit your move choices significantly though, so be careful.
