Umbreon Strengths
Umbreon is a bulky defensive Pokemon that can impede an opponent's progress, block their sweep, and force them to change out. Foul Play allows it to use the enemy's attack against it, while Yawn can stop sweeps & force a change.
Great Special Defense
Umbreon's high 130 Special Defense stat, allowing it to take special hits successfully, even without a Sp. Def EV investment. However, be careful against opponents who are fully specced into Sp. Atk.

How To Play Against Umbreon
Break Through Its Defenses With Fairy Type Moves
Umbreon's main drawback is its lack of offensive options aside from Foul Play, as well as its fairy-type weakness. Most Fairy-type moves, both physical and special, will be effective against Umbreon. Additionally, consider Dynamaxing and using Max Starfall to prevent your Pokemon from falling asleep.
Consider Taunting It
Umbreon typically only knows one offensive move, meaning Taunt is quite powerful against it and can render it useless.

Toxic Is Gone
Unfortunately, in Generation 8 Umbreon lost the move Toxic from its arsenal. This has hurt it somewhat, but it is still viable due to access to Yawn and other great support moves.
