What is the Weakness Policy?

Raises Atk/Sp.Atk When Hit By Super Effective Moves

Super Effective

If a Pokemon holding this item takes a super effective move, their Attack & Special Attack will rise two stages!

One-Time Use Item

The Weakness Policy is consumed when its effect is triggered. However, it will not disappear when doing the Battle Tower or online battles, so do not worry.

Be Aware Of Your Weaknesses

A super effective move happens when the type of your opponent's move is strong against the type of your Pokemon. Knowing your Pokemon's type matchups is key!

How to Get The Weakness Policy

Buy It At The BP Vendor

Weakness Policy

The Weakness Policy can be purchased for 20 BP at the BP Vendor located in the Battle Tower.

Get BP At The Battle Tower

The most common (and fastest) way of obtaining BP is by doing the Battle Tower, which is located in Wyndon.

Recommended Pokemon To Use Weakness Policy

Weakness Policy Currently Very Popular

In the current Sword and Shield ranked meta, Weakness Policy is seeing repeated used on many Pokemon. Due to the addition of Dynamax, many Pokemon have a higher HP pool which cushions the damage of super effective moves. Surviving one is much easier than before, hence the increased use of Weakness Policy.

Aegislash (Shield Forme) IconAegislash (Shield Forme) Can have defensive stats on turn to eat a hit and switch the next turn to sweep.
Tyranitar IconTyranitar Sufficiently bulky to eat a hit, also has many weaknesses. Make sure to be careful with Fighting moves, though.
Coalossal IconCoalossal Its ability Steam Engine gives it a 2 stage speed increase when hit with a Water move. This would make it a lethal threat, especially when Dynamaxed.
