Charizard (Gigantamax) - How To Get
Go Through Story & Defeat Champion Leon
Before you're able to get Charizard in Pokemon Sword and Shield, you need to complete the whole story and defeat Champion Leon!

After beating the game, fly back to Postwick and head into Hop's house. There will be a Poke Ball inside Leon's room with a Charmander inside it.
Evolve Gigantamax Charmander Into Charizard
When you receive Charmander, train and level up! At the level of 36, you will get Charizard!

1. Turn Off Auto-Save!
The most important thing here is to turn off autosave. This can be accessed from the options menu. This will allow you to manually save the game whenever you want.
2. Save Before You Pick Up The Pokeball!
Save outside of Leon's room before you pick up the Pokeball! This will allow you to reset the software if you get a weak Charmander.
3. Reset Until You Get An Ideal Charmander
Once you've captured your Charmander, check out its stats and decide if you want to keep it or reset until you get a better one. Try to get a Charmander with maximum Special Attack, Attack, and Speed if you can.
Judge Function Is Necessary
The Judge Function allows you to see a summary of a Pokemon's Individual Strengtsh (IVs). It can be unlocked at the Battle Tower by reaching Pokeball Tier!

Original Starter Pokemon In Kanto Region
Charizard is one of the original starter Pokemon in the first Pokemon games. First appearing in Pokemon Red, it has always been a Fire- and Flying- type Pokemon from the start.
Dual-Type Change Is A Common Misconception
A common misconception is that Charizard was only changed into Fire- and Flying- type Pokemon after dual-type system was introduced later in the series. Charizard however, was always a Fire- & Flying- type Pokemon at launch.

In Pokemon Sword and Shield, Charizard is a Gigantamax Pokemon, making it a more powerful version of its Dynamax self. It also has a special G-Max Move called G-Max Wildfire.
