Eternatus Best Moves

690 Base Stats and Dynamax Cannon

Eternatus Moves

Eternatus has incredible Base Stats since it is a Legendary Pokemon. With 145 Sp. Atk and 130 Spd, Eternatus will be able to do a lot of damage. However, one of the main reasons it is currently popular is this Pokemon makes it easy to farm Max Raids.

Check Out Eternatus's Status Here!

Dynamax Cannon

Dynamax Cannon is a move that deals 100 damage normally, but deals double damage to Dynamaxed targets! This is extremely useful in Max Raid Battles. For this reason, you'll want to have a fairly strong Eternatus at your disposal.

6Catch Eternatus and keep trying until you get a good one

1. Finish The Championship Matches & Beat Rose

In order to reach Eternatus, you will first need to have all 8 Gym badges, complete the Championship Tournament, and defeat Chairman Rose.

2. Turn Off Autosave

Autosave

The most important thing here is to turn off autosave. This can be accessed from the options menu. This will allow you to manually save the game whenever you want.

Set Text To Fast

In the same menu (at the very top), you can also change the text speed to fast. This is highly recommended to speed up the process.

3. Defeat Eternatus Phase 1 With One Pokemon

Eternatus Save

This method requires you to win the first Eternatus battle, but lose the second. In order to do this before Zacian and Zamazenta overwhelm Eternatus in Phase 2, it's necessary to bring only one Pokemon. Therefore you need a Pokemon which meets the following conditions:

  • Can one-shot Eternatus in Phase 1
  • Can be taken out very quickly by Eternatus in Phase 2

Recommended Pokemon: Haxorus

Haxorus Icon

Haxorus is a great choice here because his 120 power STAB Outrage move is super-effective against Eternatus and can one-shot him (depending on level.) Also, Haxorus has low defense and will easily be taken down in Phase 2. Outrage can be learned at Lv. 46, but we recommend leveling it to at least 55 in order to one-shot Phase 1.

Check Out Haxorus's Stats Here!

Make Haxorus Wear A Focus Sash

Focus Sash

Since Eternatus will inevitably outspeed you, a Focus Sash is necessary to survive the first hit. The Focus Sash can be found in the house to the left of the middle Pokemon Center in Hammerlocke. You'll have to battle a trainer for it.

4. Intentionally Lose To Eternatus Phase 2

In Phase 2, use a move that isn't very effective and wait to get taken out (this should take 2 turns, 3 max). You will then be transported to a Pokemon Center.

5. Return To The Tower With A Full Team And Save

Save Here

Return to the tower with a full team of 6 Pokemon that can take out Eternatus easily. Save as soon as you exit the elevator.

6. Re-catch Eternatus Until You Get A Good One

Once you catch Eternatus, check its stats. You're looking for high Special Attack and Speed. Although you can change natures later, it will cost you 50 BP, so it might be faster to reload a few times. This process should take you about 5 minutes.

Eternatus - Recommended Nature and EVs

Eternatus - Recommened Natures

NatureTraits
ModestSpA↑ / Atk↓
Maximizes Dynamax Cannon damage with no major drawbacks.
TimidSpeed↑ / Atk↓
Useful for ensuring that you go first in some situations. Could also be good vs. Players?

Which Nature Would You Pick?

Recommended EV Spread

For a Max Raid Battle Eternatus, we strongly recommend 252 Special Attack / 252 Speed. The Speed EVs can be changed to HP in some cases.

Buy Vitamins To Quickly Boost EVs

Vitamins

Unlike previous generations, Sword and Shield allows you to max out EVs with just Vitamins. Buy 26 Calciums to easily level up Eternatus's Special Attack!

Eternatus - Recommended Moves and Items

Dynamax Cannon Is A Must

Dynamax Cannon

Since Max Raid Battles are realistically the only place Eternatus will see play, all you need is Dynamax Cannon. The other moves can chosen entirely at your discretion!

Recommended Items

ItemEffect
Choice SpecsThe user can only use one move, but Special Attack increases by 150%.

Choice Specs will be incredibly useful in Max Raid Battles, since you're unlikely to use that many moves versus one Pokemon anyway.

My eternatus I caught just now has 252hp 197special attack and 196 speed timid nature. Does it have max speed I'm not sure

Anonymous 7

legendaries can't dynamax legitimately

Anonymous 6

Synchronize doesn't work on Eternatus

Anonymous 5

You can shorten all of that easily:
Use a Synchronise Pokemon like Ralts as your lead.(Can be dead) The enemy will have the nature of your pokemon.
It's a legendary so IV's don't matter. You'll have to Hypertrain it anyway.
No need to savescum or reset anything.

I tried to give it Dynamax candies but it wouldn't take any. Anyone else have the same experience? I still need to fight the champion if that matters.
