"A Beast in the Cathedral" Strategy And Tips
Use Gambits To Damage Boss
The Umbral Beast will deal massive damage as a counter attack when confronted directly. Use your Gambits to chip away at his health, or face-tank and plow through the damage with plenty of heals. Defeating Phantoms will also supply you with Potions to use.
Umbral Beast Heals By Absorbing Illusions
The boss can heal itself by absorbing Phantom units that it summons. Defeating these Phantoms will stop the Beast from healing and should be your priority, but it may summon up to 2 Illusions after killing them.
Balthus's Multi-hit Attack Works Great Against Phantoms
Balthus's multi-hitting attacks are ideal when taking care of Phantoms. Using his attacks lets you defeat these units without needing to worry about their counter attacks.
Beware of Umbral Surge AoE Attack
When you deal damage to the Umbral Beast, it may counter attack with Umbral Surge, dealing damage and repositioning all of your units to random locations, while moving the Umbral Beast itself as well.
Recharges Armor After Umbral Surge
After the Umbral Surge, the boss will also reposition itself while recharging its armor. Be sure to regroup and replenish your health before reengaging the Beast.
