How To Unlock Gardening
Complete "Green Thumb" Side Quest In Chapter 1
To first unlock gardening, you need to complete the side quest from Dedue called "Green Thumb". He'll direct you towards the Greenhouse Keeper which unlocks planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops, flowers, & seeds in the Greenhouse.

Gardening does not use up any Activity Points which makes it a useful activity to do whenever you explore the monastery during your Free Time.
Can Only Be Accessed During Free Time
You can only access the Greenhouse when you choose to explore during your Free Time.
Benefits Of Gardening
Yields Crops For Meals & Cooking
The main benefit of gardening is that it can yield crops that can be used when sharing meals with students. These crops can also be used for cooking to raise their stats temporarily.
Grows Flowers To Gift To Students
When you plant flower seeds, you can harvest flowers that you can gift to students. If you give them the correct flowers, they will be happier and increase their Support Levels.
Raises Professor Level Slightly
Every time you garden, you'll raise your Professor Level slightly. Though it may not be a lot, every little bit to rank up this level will help you get more Activity Points.

Garden During Special Days In Calendar
There are special days in your calendar that are marked with the gardening symbol. When you garden during these days, you'll receive special buffs to your planting or harvesting.
Check Predicted Yield When Cultivating
When cultivating your crops, make sure to choose the option with the highest "Predicted Yield". This means you'll be able to harvest more crops, flowers, or seeds, when you come back after one week.
Mix Planting Seeds To Get Special Items
When you're able to plant more seeds in one go, you can mix and match them. Doing so can give you very unique items that permanently buff your units' stats when they use them.
