Your Exploration Level in Endfield will increase from 1 to 3 by progressing through the main story. At Exploration Level 1, the character level cap is stuck at 30, so if you want to level up your characters, you should prioritize advancing the main quests.

Clear Trial from Exploration Level 3 Onward

From Exploration Level 3, trials will appear while progressing through the main quest. Clearing them will raise your Exploration Level.

If you are struggling in combat because enemies are too strong, it is possible to lower your Exploration Level. You can raise it back at any time, but once you lower it, you cannot lower it again for 24 hours. Even if you lower the Exploration Level, the levels of characters that are already over the new cap will be maintained.
