How To Choose A Location

Large Flat Area

Many structures that you will build require a flat surface. Some are large in size so it is better to find an area with a large flat surface when starting a base.

Base Area Is Circle And Has No Vertical Limit

Placing a Palbox will create a circle area centered around the Palbox which will be the base area. There are no vertical limitations to the base building within the circle base area. Technically you will eventually reach a height limit, but it won't matter unless you want to build a base really high up.

Abundant Resources

Pals assigned to your base will automatically work for you, gathering wood and stones. Choose an area with lots of resources to make it easier to collect the materials you need.

Build Bases For Specific Purposes

It is more efficient to build a base for a single purpose such as mining or breeding since you will be able to place buildings and assign Pals for that specific purpose. It will be inefficient to have everything done in one base so it is best to have each base serve its own purpose.

No Fast Travel Points Nearby

Your base will also act as a fast travel point, so you can also build a base to make it easier to travel to a specific location. Try building your base at a location where there are no Great Eagle Statues nearby, or any area you visit often.

How To Build A Base

Build a Palbox

Once you find a good location, build a Palbox from the building menu.

Palbox	[Unlock at Lvl 2] - Paldium Fragment ×1 - Wood ×8 - Stones ×3

Build Pal Bed and Feed Box

Once you build the Palbox, build Pal Beds and Feed Boxes for your working Pals in the base.

Straw Pal Bed	[Unlock at Lvl 3] - Wood ×10 - Fiber ×5

Build other structures so Pals can work

Start building anything else that you need in your base. Once you build what you need, place the Pals that have the Working Suitabilities to let them work.

Build your home

While you build what you need for your Pals to work, also start building your own home. It is not something that's required, but it will make your base look a lot nicer so try it out.

Base Layout Tips

Don't Place Anything In The Path Of Your Pals

Pals can get stuck if you place anything like chests and stairs in the path Pals use to move around while working. Place Feed Boxes where it's easy to access from any of the work areas and place a separate chest for each work place.

Place Chests Near Work Place

You can save time for transporting items by placing chests near each work place. This not only makes it efficient but also can prevent Pals from getting stuck.

Keep Space Between Structures

Pals can easily get stuck if you place multiple structures too close to each other. Always try to make some space in between.

Wooden Buildings Can Burn Down

Wooden buildings can burn down to the ground during Raid Events. You can avoid this by building stone or metal buildings instead.

Surround Area With Walls So Pals Don't Escape

You can prevent Pals from exiting the base if you surround your base with walls. This also works well against raids.

Pals Don't Need To Reach Their Beds

Pals recover their SAN value even if they are not actually sleeping in a bed, as long as their beds are in the base. If you place the beds where your Pals cannot reach they will just sleep where they were working, reducing the risk of them getting stuck trying to get to their beds.

How To Choose Base Pals

Choose Pals With Required Work Suitability

Each Pal has a different Work Suitability so you need to check what kind of work they are capable of. Keep this in mind when choosing which Pals to place in your base.

Manage Work With Monitoring Stand

You can unlock the Monitoring Stand from the Technology Tree at Lvl 15 to manage which tasks each Pal will work on. By checking off each task from the list, you can let them work on a specific task or stop them from doing other tasks.

Balance Work Suitability And Required Food

Pals with a high Work Suitability level can work faster, but a lot of those Pals usually also require a lot of food to feed. Keep in mind that preparing food and actually feeding them also consumes time. You need to balance work speed with the required amount of food.

Bigger Pals Tend To Get Stuck

Large sized Pals can get stuck more often depending on your layout of the base. Getting stuck causes your Pals to get sick or injured so it is better to have smaller Pals that don't get stuck as often. Also avoid Alpha and Lucky Pals as they are also larger than the normal kind.

Tips For Base Building

Buildings Outside Of Base Will Decay

Any structures built outside of you base will decay and be destroyed over time. Always make sure your buildings are inside your base.

You Can Only Build 3 Bases

You can only build up to 3 bases. If you want to make another base when you already have three, you will need to get rid of one of your existing bases first.
