To cook food, you will need special structures like Campfires or Cooking Pot. Better equipment that have more requirements to build will give you access to more recipes but the Cooking Pot should be enough for the most part.

Choose the Recipe in front of Structure
Choose the Recipe in front of Structure

To cook food, like the workbenches and furnaces, you must choose which food you want to cook. If nothing is chosen, the Pals will not cook anything for you so frequently choose which type of food you will like to make.

Create it Manually or Assign Kindling Pal
Create it Manually or Assign Kindling Pal

Once you have chosen the recipe, you can cook it manually or assign a Pal that has the "Kindling" suitability. The main goal is to make a lot so if you have a Kindling Pal on hand then it is recommended to assign it.

KindlingKindling Lvl 4

Jormuntide Ignis is the best Kindling Pal to assign. Jormuntide Ignis is the only Kindling Pal that has Lvl 4. So if you are planning to bake Cakes, then Lvl 3 will take about 3 min and 40 sec, but Lvl 4 will take about 1 min and 10 sec to bake.

Advantages Of Making Food

Can Effectively Heal Hunger And SAN

Can Effectively Heal Hunger And SAN

Cooked food can heal hunger more effectively than eating raw foods and some recipes can also heal SAN. Additionally the time it takes to rot is fairly slower than raw foods. This is helpful when you are out exploring or on multiplayer where you can not stop the time.

Some Foods Will Have Buff Effect

food that enhances stats

There are some foods that not only fulfill Hunger but also enhance your stats for a short period of time. They usually require a lot of materials to make, but it is a great asset when defeating powerful bosses.
