Changes From Past Games
1 | True Charged Slash is somewhat harder to execute |

2 | Now possible to combo Strong Wide Slash into True Charged Slash |
3 | Plunging thrust added as a new combo mid-air attack |
The Great Sword hasn't seen very many changes from what we could make out in the Demo. It retains its high-DPS, somewhat simple, easy-to-use playstyle, making it rank quite highly on our weapon tier list.

The following section includes information from Monster Hunter: World. It will be updated when MHR comes out.
Example Recommended Skills
Skill | Recommendation / Overview |
---|---|
Weakness Exploit | Hitting monster weak spots can do critical hits & increased damage |
Handicraft | Elongates weapon sharpness gauge but not beyond its maximum |
Maximum Might | Affinity increases when stamina bar is full |
Non-elemental Boost | Raises the base attack of non-elemental weapons |
Attack Boost | Increases attack power plus affinity rate at higher levels |
Health Boost | Increases maximum health |
The above are some skills that were commonly used in previous games. Great Swords have a slower attack that leaves the player open for attacks, so a max health boost is definitely desirable.

Build Characteristics & Overview
We're not sure what kind of builds will be effective for the Great Sword, but we feel that the addition of Silkbind attacks will give the Great Sword a degree of mobility that will make up for its otherwise slower nature.
