Palicos and Palamutes are a player's companion when out hunting. They share a few elements, including status and skills. They have their own behaviors and equipment unique systems.
Palicos & Palamutes Support Differently
The way Palicos and Palamutes act during hunts is entirely different. While Palicos act on their own to support the player, Palamutes will work in sync with the hunter when they're moving and attacking.

Clearing quests and earning experience is the only way you can level up your buddies and increase their stats. Both the Palico and the Palamute share the same stats. However, only the Palico has support actions that they can do during hunts.
Maximum Level is 20
The highest level your Palico and Palamute can reach is 20. The highest Skill amount is 4 while the Behavior is 5.
Common Behavior Of Palico

| Attack | Performs melee and ranged attacks with their equipped weapon. Stops from attacking if the hunter is crouching down |
| Guard | Occurs with a 45% chance when attacked. If successful, they will not be damaged or get any status effects |
| Helping Hand | When a hunter is stunned or falls asleep, they will head to the hunter and hit them to get them off |
| Self-Healing | The Palico will heal itself if its health falls under a specific number. When it's doing that, it will be unable to attack or use any other actions while healing itself. |
| Withdrawal | The Palico will withdraw when their health goes to 0. It will take a while for them to recover and will be out of the fight until then |
Palicos Can Be Left Behind
Prefer to hunt alone? You can leave behind your Palico at your camp. Head to any of the Buddy Boards and select Dismiss Buddy if you want to let them stay in the camp.
Buddy Skills List & Effects
Buddy Skills are skills that will be present during the hunt. There are a total of eight type of Palico Skills that can be acquired.
