Silver Rathalos Overview

The Silver Rathalos is a silver-scaled subspecies of the Rathalos. It is far more lethal than its other variants due to its stronger attacks & its preference to stay airborne when in fights.

Can Only Be Found In the Guiding Lands

Can Only Be Found In the Guiding Lands

The Silver Rathalos can only be found in the Guiding Lands. This means that you will need to complete Iceborne's main story first & reach MR 70 before you will be able to face this monster.

Preparing For Silver Rathalos

Bring Poison Resistant Gear & Items

The Silver Rathalos will be able to poison you using its talons. Despite the monster rarely poisoning you, it is still recommended to bring some Poison Resistant gear and Nulberries, just in case!

Equip Fire Resistant Skills

The Silver Rathalos will rely heavily on its fire breath attacks to deal damage to you. It's best to equip armor & skills that will allow you to resist fire damage.

Has A Weakness To Water

The Silver Rathalos has a weakness to water. Make sure to bring along a water type weapon in order to maximize the damage output against this monster!

Flinch Shot to Bring Down to Ground

Silver Rathalos stays in the air frequently and does high damaging moves while in flight. You can bring it down easily with a Flinch Shot to the head, giving you a huge opening for attacks.

Use Flash Pods when Enraged

Since monsters cannot be flinched shot when enraged, use your flash pods for these situations. Just remember that monsters build resistance to being flashed.

MovesDescription
Breath Jump Does a small jump while spitting fire at the floor. Be aware of this when you're near its face.
Bite Does a small jump while spitting fire at the floor. Be aware of this when you're near its face.
Stomp Jump up and tries to crush the hunter. Can be dodged when you see it jump.
Tail swipe Just like a normal tail swipe done by most monsters, but is much quicker.
Air Barrage Unleash multiple wide-range breath attack while airborne. Dodge far, far away.

Fire a wide-range and very powerful charged breath attack from the skies. Dodge far, far away or use flash pods.

The Silver Rathalos will leave flammable areas on the ground after its firebreath & fireball attacks. Keep away from them to avoid getting Fireblight & fire damage.

Strike Its Head When In Special Stance

Strike Its Head When In Special Stance

Silver Rathalos will enter a special stance other than enraged. It will have boosted damage and defence while its active, unless you do enough damage to its head and knock it down. This stance will NOT go away with time.

If Savage Deviljho is around, initiating a turf war between them is a viable tactic. Not only will Silver Rathalos take huge damage, many of its parts will be broken as well, so just sit back and let them fight!

Nulberries don’t cure poison - you should bring Herbal Medicines instead.
