Drop Rate Bug Announced
Jewel Drop Rate Of First Wyverian Ritual Affected
As of Sep 7, 2019, according to Monster Hunter Japanese Official, there is a jewel drop rate issue with First Wyverian Ritual. They are planning to fix the issue in the coming update.

Process Of Creating Items & Decorations
Item Melding is a unique Monster Hunter feature that lets you "meld" ingredients and turn them into other items such as consumables, monster gems, decorations, and more.
Requires Melding Points To Create
Aside from needing Research Points, melding items require "Melding Points" that you need to fulfill in order to craft your chosen item. You can input Melding Points by using a variety of other items from your Item Box.
Ingredients Can Sometimes Have Bonuses
During some in-game events the Elder Melder will have a variety of ingredient bonuses. This means that certain ingredients are worth more Melding Points, allowing you to meld more items.
How To Unlock & Upgrade Elder Melder
Complete 5★ Legiana Quest To Unlock
To first unlock the Elder Melder & her Melding Pot, you need to complete the 5★ Assignment "Legiana: The Embodiment of Elegance". When you get back to Astera, talk to the Elder Melder to get the tutorial on melding.
Complete Story To Upgrade Melding Options
Add Item Melding Options After 6★ Zorah Magdaros Quest
When you complete the 6★ Assignment "A Colossal Task", more items will be added in the Elder Melder's pot.

Randomly Meld Powerful Decorations
The First Wyverian Ritual allows you to use other decorations and randomly meld them into new ones. Though chances are random, you can get powerful decorations with this method.
Unlock By Completing 9★ Xeno'jiiva Quest
To get the First Wyverian Ritual unlocked, you need to complete the 9★ Assignment "Land of Convergence". Here you'll get your first Streamstone which will unlock this new process.
3 Types Of First Wyverian Ritual Techniques
There are 3 types of First Wyverian Rituals that you can do to meld decorations. The more costly process will have higher chance of producing more powerful decorations.

How To Get Streamstones
Streamstones are needed go through the First Wyverian Ritual. These can be gathered from quests where you have to face Tempered or Arch Tempered monsters.

Use Melding To Get Gems & Plates
Since monster materials such as gems and plates can be hard to get as monster drops, you can use the Elder Melder to meld them instead. These are the items you need to prioritize as they're needed in crafting weapons & gear.
Meld Items Useful In Quests
Items such as potions, bombs, and other things that are useful in quests are also recommended to be melded with the Elder Melder. It is always better to have more of these items that find yourself lacking them.

Aside from the decorations you unlock in decorations melding, those that you get from the First Wyverian Ritual will be completely random. However, this is a great way to get rid of useless decorations that you don't plan to use in any loadouts.
