Features Of Ranged Weapons
Ranged Weapons are characterized by their capability to hit targets from mid to long range. Since they can hit monsters from afar, this keeps gunners safe & more able to avoid monster attacks.
MHW Has Better Ranged Weapon Armor
In Monster Hunter World, ranged weapon users have better defense than in older Monster Hunter games. This is due to having unified sets of armors, compared to the older series where Blademaster & Gunner armor sets were separate.
Tips In Using Ranged Weapons
Take Note Of Ammo Consumption
Ranged weapons use ammo, whether coatings or special bullets. Gunners who lose ammo will be powerless so it's important to keep an eye on your ammo inventory.
Ammo Can Be Crafted
Most ranged weapon ammo can be crafted as long as you have the materials in your Pouch or Box. If possible, use your Pouch space to carry more ammo materials than recovery items.Be Aware Of Distance From Monsters
It's easy to mistake that ranged weapons can deal effective damage at any range, however, Hunters should not move too far away from their target. Ranged weapons suffer from damage drop off so it's best to stay in mid range from the monster.
Know Your Ammo's Critical Hit Distance
Each special ammo for gunner weapons will have a sweet spot in terms of distance that will deal more critical hits. Keep this in mind when using your special ammo and reduce or increase distance to deal more damage.
Be Careful When Monster Aggression Is On You
Ranged weapon users are usually a safe distance away from the target monster but sometimes monsters will turn their attention towards far Hunters. When the target looks toward you, make sure to avoid the attack to keep safe.
