PS4 Controller Settings & Configuration

This is the default button configuration for Monster Hunter World. The button mapping is the same regardless of weapon used.

Gameplay Settings That Can Be Changed
Setting Description
Autosave Settings Turn autosave on or off
Minimap Change behavior of how minimap is displayed
Head Armor Toggle whether head armor is displayed or not
Damage Indicators Toggle to show damage numbers or not
Control Guide Toggle whether control tips and prompts are displayed
Vibration Settings Turn vibration on or off
Subtitles Turn subtitles on or off

Leave Control Guide On By Default

With the control guide on, button prompts and control maps are always on for you to see.

Turn On Damage Indicators

This will allow you to see and gauge how much damage you deal on a monster, as how it's meant to be played.

Setting Description
Directional Control Type Toggle to invert direction of the Y Axis
Sheathe Settings Toggle whether to manually or automatically sheathe weapon
Dash Settings Change assigned dash buttons
Switch L1/R1 and L2 / R2 Toggle to switch inputs between back and front shoulder buttons
Radial Menu Settings Change how to navigate and select items from the radial menu
Item Control Settings Change how you access the quick use items

Turn Off Auto Sheathe Weapon

It would be best that you learn how to manually sheathe your weapon. This way, you have full control on when your weapon is up for an attack.

How To Change Settings

You can change these settings anytime by pressing the "Options" button to bring up the menu. Navigate the menu to the right until you see "System". Then select "Options".
