What is the Raider Ride Feature?

New Way of Traveling Around the Map

New Way of Traveling Around the Map

The Raider Rides feature is a new way for your hunter to traverse the map while hunting for monsters. With this feature, you will be able to ride on Tailraider Monsters as they assist you in tracking the monster.

Set Your Destination on the Map

Open your map and set a pin to where you want to go. If you set your target as a monster, the Tailraider Monster will take you to the monster's location.

Will Follow Target Monster When Destination is Not Set

If no destination is set on your map, the Tailraider Monster will take you to the nearest monster track of the currently targeted monster.

Call Using the Tailraider Signal

Tailraider Signal

You will be able to summon the Tailraider Monster by using the Tailraider Signal in your inventory. The icon will look like a monster with a saddle on its back.

Get Tailraider Signal From Your Palico

You get Tailraider Signal by talking to your Palico in Seliana or in the tent if you are at a campsite. However, you must have unlocked it first.

What You Can Do While in Raider Ride

Easily Traverse the Map

Using the Raider Ride feature is an effective way of getting around the map. While the Tailraider Monster is taking you to your destination, you will be able to focus on preparing yourself before getting to the location!

You Cannot Directly Control the Monsters

You will not be able to directly control the Tailraider Monsters when in Raider Rides. They will move on their own towards the destination you have set.

What Can You Do In Raider Rides?

  • Collect & use items
  • Use the Slinger
  • Use the Clutch Claw
  • Grab onto ledges & shortcuts
  • Attempt to mount a large monster

Collect & Use Items

While riding the Tailraider Monsters, you will be able to use and consume items to prepare for an upcoming fight. In addition to this, you can use also use your slinger when riding.

Switch Between Walking & Running

You will be able to switch between walking and running with the L3 button while riding. If you want to get to your destination fast, opt to run. If you want to collect items while riding, choose to walk.

Cannot Ride When Fatigued

Just like when your Palico rides the Tailraider Monster, you will not be able to use this feature if the monster's HP bar is reduced to 0. You may need for the monster to recover or try again in a different quest.

Can Ride As Many Times As You Want

Once you call the Tailraider Monster with the Raider Ride item, you will be able to ride that monster as many times as you want during that quest. However, please note that there are some areas where it cannot be called like camps.

Conditions Before Using Raider Ride

Must Befriend the Monster

Must Befriend the Monster

Before you are able to ride a particular monster, make sure that your Palico has already befriended it. Therefore you can only use this feature when playing solo or when you are playing with only one other hunter.

Befriend Grimalkynes To Unlock Tailraider Monsters

Befriend Grimalkynes To Unlock Tailraider Monsters

In order for you to unlock different Tailraider Monsters, you will need to let your Palico befriend the different Grimalkyne tribes around the map. Once your Palico befriends them, you will be able to befriend the Tailraider Monster related to that tribe.
