Another new subspeces entering in Iceborne, the Nightshade Paolumu has dark fur & different colored dots on its body. It expels gas that will cause the Sleep debuff on your Hunter.
Find In Wildspire Waste & Ancient Forest
You'll first encounter the Nightshade Paolumu in the Wildspire Waste. However, it can also be spotted flying around the Ancient Forest.
Preparing For Nightshade Paolumu
Has A Weakness To Water
The Nightshade Paolumu has a weakness to the Water element. When preparing to face this monster, make sure to equip weapons that have a high water damage output!
Stock Up On Energy Drinks
Make sure to bring some Energy Drinks with you. This item counteract your drowsiness & prevent you from falling asleep. Place it in your radial menu to be able to drink it before going to sleep.
Use Clutch Claw To Bring Monster Down
The Nightshade Paolumu will constantly be flying around. When it's in the air and not enraged, you can flinch shot it to the ground even when not in front of a wall.

Check Positioning Of Sleep Gas
When fighting the Nightshade Paolumu, always make sure to keep track of the position of the monster's multiple sleep clouds. Since these clouds stay on the field for a while, it is best to avoid these to prevent falling asleep!
Use Flinch Shot On Face To Bring Monster Down
The Nightshade Paolumu likes to fly around often. You can bring it down by using your Slinger Burst or Flinch Shot on its face. This will disorient the monster and send it reeling into the ground, open for your attacks. This works whether its neck is inflated or not.
Use Flash Pods to Bring it Down
When Nightshade Paolumu is enraged when it's in the air, the fastest way to bring it down is by using flash pods. Though take note that monsters now build resistance to Flash Pods so use them sparingly.
