Shrieking Legiana Overview
A new subspecies introduced only in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, Shrieking Legiana is the ice element version of the Legiana. Native to Hoarfrost Reach, it mainly does ice attacks that can stab you with precision.
Faster & Stronger Than Regular Legiana
The Shrieking Legiana has a similar moveset to the normal Legiana. However, this monster is faster, has wider range, and higher ice damage. Increase your defense stats and dodge when needed to avoid getting damaged.
Preparing For Shrieking Legiana
Bring Items & Skills To Counteract Iceblight
The Shrieking Legiana uses several ice attacks against you. It would be best for you to bring items & skills that counteract the possibility of Iceblight getting applied to you. These include the Blight Resistance skill and the Nullberry.
Bring Some Dung Pods In Case of Other Monsters
At times, the Shrieking Legiana will be accompanied by a normal Legiana. It will be useful to bring Dung Pods to make either monster flee so you can focus on hunting the Shrieking Legiana.

Ice Breath | While in the air, the monster will spit out an icy cold breath that can hit a wide area in front of it |
Spinning Rush Attack | When in the air, the Legiana will rush like a torpedo while creating icicles underneath it as it rushes forward |
Ice Teleport Attack | The Legiana will disappear in a cloud of cold air and after a brief moment, will swoop down from above |
Glide Attack | Will jump up and glide towards the player to attack. Attack can be confused for the monster repositioning to another area |
Evade To The Side To Dodge Most Attacks
Roll Sidewards To Avoid Icicle Attack
The Shrieking Legiana's Icicle attack will have a narrow but long range. When you see it perform this move, dodge to the side to avoid this attack. The Icicle Attack is telegraphed by a small sheet of ice signalling the direction of the icicle attack.
Rush Attack Can Be Avoided By Stepping Sideways
The Spinning Rush attack moves the Legiana forward in a straight line. When it starts to telegraph this move, quickly dodge to the side to easily avoid this devastating attack.
Dodge To Side When Monster Disappears
One of the Shrieking Legiana's most devastating attacks is its teleportation move. When it screams and disappears, make sure to dodge to the side as the attack is usually done forwards.
Keep Track Of Legiana When Airborne
The Shrieking Legiana has several moves at its disposal when in the air. Some of these attacks can damage a wide area around it. Make sure to only approach the monster during the windows between its attacks, while backing away when it starts its next move.
Utilize The Turf War To Damage Monster
The area where you fight the Shrieking Legiana is also inhabited by different monsters. If one of them shows up during the fight, allow them to help you in dealing damage to the monster by letting them engage in a turf war!

You won't be able to Flinch Shot and bring down Shrieking Legiana when it is enraged. Instead, use a flash pod to disorient it. Take note that monsters now build a resistance to Flash Pods.
