Scarred Yian Garuga is a subspecies of the metal bird wyvern Yian Garuga. Battle hardened and battle scarred, Scarred Yian Garuga has a large scar down its beak.

Unlocked in Guiding Lands

Unlocked in Guiding Lands

The Scarred Yian Garuga can only spawned within the Guiding Lands. Besides that and investigations, you won't find it roaming around.

Preparing For Scarred Yian Garuga

Use a Weapon with High Sharpness

Since its armor is metal, having low sharpness will have your weapon just bouncing of it when you attack. Bring your weapon with the highest sharpness.

Prepare For Poison

Antidotes, Herbal Medicine are a must have in your loadout when fighting the Yian Garuga. It can spit poison and it's tail swipe can apply poison when it hits.

Cut Off Tail to Remove Poison Attacks

Make it a priority to cut off the Scarred Yian Garuga's tail as soon as possible when hunting it. Similar to its normal variant, taking out the tail will prevent the monster from inflicting poison for the attacks.

SomersaultDive attack same with Rathian. Inflicts poison and may do this move twice in a row.

Several Rathian Based Attacks

The Scarred Yian Garuga has several attacks similar to the Rathian. It has a somersault type attack which poisons you if you get hit with the tail among other attacks.

Evasion Over Attacking

Scarred Yian Garuga is a master of quickly jabbing you and then finish you off when you can't react. As even minor attacks could lead to being knocked out, focus on evasion over damage when fighting Scarred Yian Garuga.

Roar & Somersault Combo Is A Potential One-Shot

One of the most dangerous moves of Scarred Yian Garuga is the Roar, stun & Somersault combo. Earplugs skill could greatly increase you survivability.

New Move: Quintuple Breath Attack

Scarred Yian Garuga gets a quintuple breath attack that blasts from right to left mid-air. It will quickly use this move even when on ground and is difficult to evade, so stay near the right side of Scarred Yian Garuga to be able to get out of this move's range fast.
