What Is A Bounty?

In Starfield, players have the freedom to explore the vast, immersive universe filled with cities, towns, and settlements. However, some actions may be considered criminal, such as theft, assault, trespassing, or murder. You get a bounty as a consequence when you are caught committing a crime.

Don't Get Caught In Act!

When an NPC or guard witnesses you taking unlawful actions, you might be warned at first, which might escalate into an arrest or head straight to a full blown combat. Resisting arrest or engaging in combat with guards will further increase the bounty and result in a full-scale pursuit by law enforcement in the respective area.

How High Does The Bounty Get?

The amount of the bounty you get depends on the severity of the crime. Minor offenses may result in a smaller bounty, while more serious crimes will lead to larger bounties.

What Happens When You Get A Bounty?

Accruing a bounty can have consequences in the game. Guards may remain hostile or hostile towards you, and certain quests or interactions with NPCs may become more challenging. Additionally, in some cases, a high bounty may attract bounty hunters or powerful enemies seeking to collect the reward for eliminating you.

How To Remove A Bounty

You have the option to verify whether any Faction within the Settled Systems has listed you as wanted by using the Tracker Alliance Self-Service Bounty Clearance Kiosk. Furthermore, this same tool can be used to settle a pending bounty by making the necessary payments. However note that you must be outside of the area of where you got the bounty to do so.

Where To Find Self-Service Bounty Clearance?

You can find one in cities like in New Atlantis where the Self-Service Bounty Clearance can be found inside The Viewport at the far end next to the Mission Board. If you have a hard time finding one, you can craft your own Self-Service Bounty Clearance in your Outpost under the Miscellaneous section.

Take note that if you intend to become a member of any faction, you must clear any outstanding bounty with that faction. Furthermore, you might also be obliged to settle any additional bounties you've accumulated so far.

Thus, while bounties may initially appear as a consequence of unlawful actions, they also offer an exhilarating chance for players to embrace the role of valiant bounty hunters.

Nevertheless, you can also get rewards when you take on Bounty Missions. These quests involve tracking down and eliminating dangerous criminals, often with a reward promised upon successful completion.
