Tips for Finding the Best Planets
Extensive Resources
When choosing a planet to build an outpost, focus on what resources can be extracted from that planet. In particular, Iron or Aluminum are needed in large quantities, so you should build an outpost on a planet where these resources can be extracted.
High Priority Resources
Required in large quantities |
---|
Helium-3, Aluminum, Iron |
Required in sufficient quantities |
Titanium, Tungsten, Nickel, Lead, Copper, Cobalt, etc. |
Look for Places Where Multiple Biomes are Adjacent
For example, Iron tends to be found in mountains, while Aluminum tends to be found in other biomes such as craters, rocky deserts, and wetlands.
Therefore, it is important to look for places where multiple biomes are adjacent to each other in order to collect multiple resources at one outpost.
How to Find Where Multiple Biomes are Adjacent
1 | Know the biome where the resource you are looking for is likely to be found. If you are not sure in which biome the resource you are looking for is available, scan the area you are planning to land on the planet. |
---|---|
2 | Look around the entire planet from the ship, left-clicking on the biome of the landing site to find the location where the biomes you are looking for are adjacent. The trick is to choose a location where the available resources are not shown (not colored on the map). This is because selecting a colored location will only show a single biome. |
3 | Land on the planet and check from a height to see if the biomes are adjacent. It is efficient to check the surroundings in photo mode (found in the Pause menu) without leaving the ship. |
4 | If the biomes you want are not adjacent, start again from step 2. |

Feynman IV
Recommendation | ★★★★★ |
---|---|
System | Feynman System |
Type | Rock |
Gravity | 0.57 |
Temperature | Cold |
Atmosphere | Thin O2 |
Magnetosphere | Powerful |
Fauna | Marginal 3 |
Flora | Marginal 4 |
Water | Safe |
Resources | Water, Helium-3, Aluminum, Chlorine, Iron, Argon, Benzene, Chlorosilanes |
This planet is near the Volii system, where Neon is located. Aluminum, Iron and Helium-3 are available, along with several other resources. The environment is favorable in terms of gravity and temperature, and the area is inhabited by flora and fauna, making it ideal for building outpost and networking.
However, the creatures that live here are somewhat aggressive, so we recommend this as a mid-to-late game outpost site rather than your very first outpost.
Linnaeus IV-b
Recommendation | ★★★★・ |
---|---|
System | Moon of Linnaeus IV |
Type | Rock |
Gravity | 0.5 |
Temperature | Temperate |
Atmosphere | Thin M |
Magnetosphere | None |
Fauna | None |
Flora | None |
Water | Biological |
Resources | Water, Helium-3, Aluminum, Iron, Lead, Beryllium, Alkanes, Ytterbium |
This planet is located just southwest of Olympus in the Linnaeus system. Like Feynman IV above, it has excellent resources, including Aluminum, Iron, and Helium-3.
The environment is also favorable, but it is not inhabited by flora and fauna, so if you want both abundant resources and flora and fauna, Feynman IV is the better choice.
Bessel III-b
Recommendation | ★★★★・ |
---|---|
System | Moon of Bessel III |
Type | Rock |
Gravity | 0.43 |
Temperature | Cold |
Atmosphere | Thin M |
Magnetosphere | None |
Fauna | None |
Flora | None |
Water | Biological |
Resources | Water, Argon, Aluminum, Nickel, Iron, Cobalt, Platinum, Neon |
This star is located in the Bessel system, where near the Narion system. In addition to the availability of Iron and Aluminum, which are needed in large quantities, the important resources of Nickel and Cobalt are also available. And it is worth mentioning that there are rare resources such as Platinum and Neon.
Leviathan IV
Recommendation | ★★★・・ |
---|---|
System | Leviathan System |
Type | Rock |
Gravity | 0.68 |
Temperature | Temperate |
Atmosphere | STD O2 |
Magnetosphere | Powerful |
Fauna | Marginal 5 |
Flora | Marginal 4 |
Water | Biological |
Resources | Water, Chlorine, Aluminum, Copper, Iron, Fluorine, Ytterbium |
In addition to the extraction of important resources such as Aluminum and Iron and Copper, one of the rarest resources, Ytterbium, is also available.
It is inhabited by flora and fauna, but be aware that some of the creatures are quite aggressive. Rather than your first outpost, it would be better to survey it after you have advanced your game a bit.
Eridani VII-c
Recommendation | ★★★・・ |
---|---|
System | Moon of Eridani VII |
Type | Rock |
Gravity | 0.33 |
Temperature | Deep Freeze |
Atmosphere | Thin CO2 |
Magnetosphere | None |
Fauna | None |
Flora | None |
Water | Chemical |
Resources | Water, Helium-3, Aluminum, Lead, Uranium, Tungsten, Titanium, Europium |
The planet boasts an excellent array of resources: Aluminum, Helium-3, Lead, Tungsten, and Titanium. One of the rarest resources, Europium, is also available.
However, due to the deep freeze temperatures, it will be difficult to explore without Planetary Habitation, the master skill of science tree . It is recommended as a second or subsequent outpost.
Andraphon
Recommendation | ★★・・・ |
---|---|
System | Moon of Sumati |
Type | Barren |
Gravity | 0.12 |
Temperature | Temperate |
Atmosphere | None |
Magnetosphere | None |
Fauna | None |
Flora | None |
Water | None |
Resources | Helium-3, Aluminum, Iron, Beryllium, Europium |
It is a popular planet on which many people build their first outposts, as it offers such important resources as Aluminum, Iron, and Helium-3.
If you plan to build more than one outpost, it is a good idea to build an outpost here first, and then continue the game and build outposts on other planets.
Useful Skills for Building Outpost
Outposts can function as primary operational bases, offering support, refuge, and essential resources. You have the flexibility to construct these outpost bases in various locations, provided you possess the required materials and skills.
Outpost Build - Base Building & Create ItemsScience Tree is the Top Priority
Priority should be given to the science tree in order to acquire Outpost Engineering skill as quickly as possible.
Recommended Science Skills
Novice | Research Methods, Surveying, Geology |
---|---|
Advanced | Botany, Zoology, Scanning |
Expert | Outpost Engineering |
Master | Planetary Habitation |
At the Novice, we recommend spending 4 points on Research Methods, but Surveying and Geology are also acceptable.
All three of the above skills in the Advanced are excellent and should be ranked up as evenly as possible.
Finally, if you want to build an outpost on a planet with extreme environments such as deep freeze or inferno, you should have at least rank 1 in Planetary Habitation skill.
Atmosphere - Planet Types & Outpost BuildNext, Enhance the Social Tree
Next to the Science Tree, you should aim to acquire Outpost Management skill in the Social Tree.
Recommended Social Skills
Novice | Commerce, Persuasion |
---|---|
Advanced | Any |
Expert | Outpost Management |
Master | - |
At the Novice, it is recommended that you learn the versatile skills of Persuasion or Commerce.
There are no specific skills required at the Advanced. Choose the skill that best suits your playing style.
At the Expert, spend all 4 points on Outpost Management skill. Rank 1 will allow you to use Cargo Link, and subsequent ranks will also help you a great deal.
