Karst River Quarry - Ground War Map Layout & Design
Large Limestone Quarry
Karst River Quarry is one of the large maps in Modern Warfare. It is a limestone quarry located next to the Karst river. The map demands versatility from the player as multiple of its locations vary in weapon range effectiveness.
Vehicles Available for Mobility
Due to the largeness of the map, vehicles such as IAVs, ATVs, and helicopters have been provided to help players move around the map with much more ease.
Map Offers Tons of Verticality
The Quarry also offers tons of verticality. There are several vantage points accessible by climbing up stairways or ladders. However, keep in mind that a misstep may send you plummeting to your death!
Handguns Can Be Used On Ladders
When moving on ladders, you can still defend yourself with a Handguns if you have one equipped. You can aim and fire, but not reload a handgun while on a ladder.
Spaces Narrow Towards Center
The map generally features wide open spaces which call for mid to long range weapons in firefights. However, you will start to notice that more obstacles appear and spaces are much more narrow as you approach the center of the map.
Buildings Have Tight Spaces & Multiple Levels
Be ready when entering buildings as these structures cater more towards close quarters combat. Keep in mind that these buildings also have multiple floors so there may be enemies lying in wait for you above.

Geographical Tips
Avoid the Main Roads
The outskirts of the map are roads which the quarry workers use to move around the area. These feature little to no cover, and can leave you exposed to the enemy's fire.
IAVs Are the Recommended Vehicle
It is better to use the IAVs to move around the map. IAVs will be able to shield you from incoming fire while at the same time, allows you to fire back at enemies in the area. However, watch out for mines as they severely damage your IAV.

Buildings in this map offer several advantages such as vantage points, and useful cover. However, exercise caution when entering these buildings. Enemies may have left traps such as claymores or mines in the building's blind spots.
Use Upper Floors as Vantage Points
If you're planning on using a Sniper, it is recommended to use the upper floors of buildings instead of roofs. Using upper floors will provide you with cover since you can just move away from the window if you're spotted!
You Can Spawn On Teammates
You will have the option to respawn on a teammate. This will allow you to get closer to objectives faster, and also provide some instant backup to your squadmate if they ever find themselves pinched!
Loadout Tips
Use Overkill to Keep Loadout Versatile
The Overkill Perk will allow you to equip two primary weapons to your loadout. This lets you equip both a close range weapon along with a mid to long range gun to keep your loadout deadly at several ranges!

Use Attachments to Increase Range
Having attachments that increase your range such as optics will also be helpful so you can dispatch enemies further away. These enemies may prove difficult to approach so you can opt to shoot them from afar.

The Deployable Cover is recommended since this map is large and has several wide spaces. If you are caught in a firefight when out in the open, you can quickly deploy this field upgrade to gain some instant cover.

It is better to use traps such as Claymores and mines in buildings as these can deal damage to enemies caught in the explosion. Using lethals outside does not guarantee kills as enemies can quickly move away from your grenades before they explode.

Alternatively, you can place Proximity Mines along the roads to punish enemies riding IAVs. Proximity Mines deal bonus damage to vehicles, making them a great counter to enemies inside those vehicles.

Offensive killstreaks such as the Precision Airstrike and Cluster Strike are useful in this map as there are tons of open spaces for you to rain down your firepower. Despite having several buildings, Enemies will mostly be outside near objectives.
