How to Play With Friends
Step 1: Open Social Menu
From your main multiplayer screen, open your social menu found on the upper right side of your screen. This will bring you to the Social menu showing you a list of friends from your Activision account, and friends on your platform.
Step 2: Choose Friends From List
From here, choose the friends you wish to invite or join from the list. If you want to crossplay, choose friends from the Activision list. Otherwise, select your friends from the platform's friend list.
Step 3: Opt to Join or Invite Friends
Once you have your friend selected, choose to invite them to your party or join their party.
How to Add Friends
Adding Friends on Activision Account
Step 1: Open Social Menu In Multiplayer
From the main multiplayer screen, open your social menu. This can be found on the upper right side of your screen. If it is not showing up, you may need to enable Display Name Tags from your Account Options.
Step 2: Choose "Add Friends" Option
From here, choose the "Invite Friends" option under the Friends tab. This will open up a list of your recently met players. Choose the top most box with the title "Enter Activision Account..." to send and invite.
Step 3: Enter Activision Account Name
After entering your friend's account name, an invite will be sent to their "Friend Requests" tab.
You Can Add Recently Met Players
You can also opt to add friends from a list of recently met CoD: MW players. Hover over the player's name and choose the option to invite them.
How To Accept Friend Requests
Step 1: Open Social Menu
If your friend has sent you a friend request, open your Social menu from the main multiplayer screen.
Step 2: Navigate to "Friend Requests" Tab
Open the "Invite Friends" option under the "Friends" tab. From here, navigate to the "Friend Requests" tab to bring up a list of your received and sent friend requests.
Step 3: Accept Friend Requests
Look for the friend request from your friend, select it, then choose "Accept."
You Can Revoke Sent Friend Requests
You will also see a list of friend requests that you've sent to players in this menu. If you wish to cancel a pending friend request, hover over the friend request, and choose "Revoke."
Cross Platform Features
Crossplay Features Available
Modern Warfare has a crossplay feature, allowing you to squad up and play with friends regardless of your platform. You must have Crossplay enabled in your settings for this feature to work.

Additionally, you will need to have an activision account linked to your game. This will allow the game to keep track of your stats, and friends from different platforms among other things. If you do not have an account, you can make one here.
