Rathian - Tips & Tricks
Rathian's Fire Breath Has Two Phases
Rathian will vary its flame breath attacks based on its state. It will normally shoot a single fireball, but lets loose three fireballs when it's enraged. Keep track of the Rathian's state in order to safely dodge its fire breath!
Prioritize The Head Wings & Tail
The Rathian's weak spots are its head, wings, and tail. Focus on these to deal the most damage to the monster in the least amount of time. Severing the tail will hinder one of the Rathian's deadliest moves!
Antidotes Are A Must-Have In The Hunt
Since the Rathian will be able to poison you during the fight. When poisoned, your health will slowly drain, making it harder to fight which is why carrying a ton of antidotes is a big requirement in this hunt!
Use To Flash Pods To Ground The Monster
The Rathian may be difficult to hit when it is airborne since some weapons do not have the reach. However, using the Flash Pod will allow you to ground the monster and get a few good hits in!Check Out Rathian Monster Info Here!

|Rathian's head is a weak spot. Breakable|
|Rathian's back is breakable. However, it is not a weak spot|
|Rathian's wings is a weak spot. Breakable.|
|The tail of a Rathian is a weak spot. It can be severed|
Rathian's main weak spots are its head, wings, and tail. Its tail, if subjected to sufficient damage, can be severed.

Dragon is the most effective element against the Rathian
Thunder is also effective against the Rathian, but not as effective as Dragon
Rathian is resistant to Fire. Do not bring Fire-based weapons
|Reduces the effects of Monster roars, and nullifies their effects at high levels|
|Poison Resistance||Reduces the duration of the poison status effect, and prevents poison at high levels|
|Flash Pod||Stuns monster for a few seconds with flash of light|
|Antidote||Drink to cure one's self of poison status effect.|
Best Specialized Tools
|Rocksteady Mantle||Eliminates damage reactions, prevents wind effects, protects your hearing, and grants tremor resistance. You also receive less damage from attacks|
|Evasion Mantle||Increases the invulnerability window while evading and grants a temporary attack boost for evading a monster attack at the very last moment|
|Affinity Booster||Places a smoker that increases affinity|
Rathian - Moves & Counters
|Rush Attack||The Rathian will rush forward, running over anything in its path. This attack can be sidestepped, or blocked.|
|Fire Breath||Flames will be shot at the hunter. A single fireball is launched at normal state, while 3 successive fireballs are launched when enraged. Dodge diagonally backwards to avoid these.|
|Tail Swipe||The Rathian swipes its tail around, hitting anything behind it. Dodge forward to avoid the incoming tail.|
|Flipping Tail Attack||Rathian will do a somersault and hit whatever is in front of it, with its tail. It has a telegraph which should alert you to dodge to the side.|
Flipping Tail Attack Applies Poison
If you are hit with the Rathian's tail during its flip tail attack, you get the poisoned status effect. This is one of the Rathian's deadliest attacks so make sure to dodge when it winds up for this attack!
Sever The Tail To Lessen The Attack's Range
The Rathian's flipping tail attack has a very long range. However, it will have less of a reach once its tail is severed. Make it a priority to sever the tail in order to stop the Rathian from dealing damage at long range.Rathian Rewards & Crafting Item Lists Here!
