A Meeting Area For Hunters

— Monster Hunter (@monsterhunter) November 18, 2017
The Gathering Hub is an online feature for Monster Hunter World where Hunters in an online session can gather and have fun before taking on their quests. It also houses a canteen, a provisions stockpile store, arena & quest counter, & more!
Houses 16 Online Players At The Same Time
The Gathering Hub can house all 16 players in the same online session at the same time. Players can also play arm wrestling against other players as well!
Can Also Be Accessed Solo
Though meant as a multiplayer feature, the Gathering Hub can also be accessed by solo players and use its facilities as needed.
Base To Launch Kulve Taroth Siege Quest & Arena Quests
This is the only place in Astera where you can launch Arena and the Kulve Taroth Siege quests through the quest counter.

How To Start Or Join A Gathering Hub
Create An Online Session
In order to play & use the gathering hub with other players, you must first either create or join an existing online session. This can be done from the start screen, or from the gathering hub itself at the quest counter.
Set Your Preferences As The Session Host
When you select the Create an Online Session Option, you'll be set as a host, and other players can join in your session. Just set your Private Session setting to "No", to allow players to join you. You can also set filters in order to narrow down the types of players you are allowing into your session.
Matchmaking Filters
- Player Type
- Quest Preference
- Hunter Rank Preference
- Language
Join An Online Session
You can also join an existing online session, and jump into that session's gathering hub. This can be done from the start screen, or from the gathering hub itself at the quest counter.
Matchmake Will Put You In An Existing Session
The Matchmake system will allow you to join other online players based on your matchmaking preferences, such as Quest & Hunter Rank preference & more. You'll be matched with players with the same set of preferences.
Play With Squad in Create / Search for Squad Session
Selecting the third option will allow you to search or create game sessions that will team you up with members of your squad.
Head Up to The Gathering Hub at Astera 4F
Once you're in a session, head up to the 5F of Astera to visit the gathering hub.
Things To Consider About The Gathering Hub
Stable & Open Connectivity Is Recommended
As with playing with other hunters in a Multiplayer Quest, a broadband internet connectivity is recommended. However, it's best to have at least NAT Type 1 (Open) or 2 (Moderate) to be able to play with other players.
Check Out How To Start And Join Quest Here!NAT Type 3 Will Result To Poor Matchmaking
With a NAT Type 3 (Strict) connection, connecting to multiplayer sessions will not be as easy. Check with your Internet Service provider on how to change this.
PS Plus & Xbox Live Subscription Is Required
On console, you will need a PS Plus or Xbox Live subscription to be able to play with other players, including interaction with other players in the gathering hub. However, you will still be able to access the gathering hub and special event quests.
No Subscription Needed for PC Players
No subscription is needed if playing on PC, and all multiplayer functions including the gathering hub will be available for PC players right off the bat.
