Finish "Into the Frozen Wilds" Event Quest
The Stormslinger Prototype can be crafted after clearing the event quest, "Into the Frozen Wilds". You will be given a Banuk Warrior Symbol to craft the Light Bowgun.
Complete "Survivor" Event Quest To Upgrade
Round 2 of the Collaboration Quest, "Survivor" rewards the player with Bluegleam, a material necessary to upgrade the Stormslinger Prototype into the more powerful Adept Stormslinger.

Has A Unique Mod
In the Customize Bowgun screen, you can attach the unique mod, "Power Source Mod" to the Stormslinger. This mod allows your Stormslinger to fire repeated shots of energy. However, firing it continuously will cause heavy damage to the user.
Reduce Damage With Shield-Weaver+ Armor
The Horizon Zero Dawn Collaboration Event also brings with it the Shield-Weaver Armor+, a set that has a buff similar to that of the Rocksteady Mantle. Use it with the Stormslinger to reduce the user damage by about 50%.
