Switch Between High Rank & Low Rank
You will be able to choose between High Rank and Low Rank Expeditions when checking the map. These will alter the difficulty of the monsters, and also the Notes. However, you will first need to progress the story to unlock High Rank Expeditions.
Learn the Area's Situation
Highlighting an area on you world map will also display some notes as to what Monsters are currently present, what item or materials are flourishing, and if there are field researchers present. Check these to find out if you are looking for specific monsters or items.
Use Map Filters to Narrow Down Searches
Opening the wildlife map will display the map of your immediate area. Here, you can filter the icons displayed to narrow down what you are searching for. Note that the Endemic Life filter will only show icons that can be used when fighting monsters.
Set a Waypoint to your Target
Once you have found what it is you're searching for, you can click R3 or the right stick to set a waypoint. This will let the Scoutflies guide you to your chosen target, and allow you to quickly search and gather materials.
What You Can Do In Expeditions
List of What You Can Do In Expeditions
- Collect Monster Clues
- Gather Items
- Receive a Researcher Request
- Catch Creatures
- Hunt Smaller Monsters
- Start Quests
Collect Monster Clues
While on an expedition, you will be able to collect Monster clues from the Monsters that are currently present in you area. This will improve your research level of the Monster, and will likely give you some investigation quests when you return.
Gather Items
You can also gather items while out on Expeditions. The items that you gather can be crafted into useful consumables that will aid you during hunts. Use the Gathering filter to collect these items for crafting.
Receive A Researcher's Request
You can also receive requests from Researchers that are present on the map with you. A researcher with a request will show up with a yellow exclamation point.
Catch Creatures
You can also capture small creatures that populate the map using your Capture Net. Once these creatures are caught, you will be able to place them into your room where you can interact with and feed them.
Hunt Smaller Monsters
You can also choose to hunt smaller Monsters for their meat while out on an expedition. You can also opt to hunt large Monsters, but it may be less efficient since there is no big reward for defeating larger Monsters, unlike when in a quest.
Start Quests
Talking to the Handler at camps in the area will allow you to start Quests. Since you are already in the area, this will shorten the loading time. However, make sure to return to the base regularly to progress your Botanical Research!
