The Firstborn Son Of Rosaria
The Main Character "Clive Rosfield" is the firstborn son of The Grand Duchy of Rosaria. Traditionally in Rosaria, the one to be chosen by the Eikon Pheonix as its Dominant was to become the Archduke, but Clive was not chosen as the Dominant.
Joshua, The Younger Brother Chosen By Pheonix
Clive's younger brother, Joshua Rosfield, was the one chosen by the Pheonix. However, Joshua struggled with his health and did not favor combat, which led him to believe that Clive should have been bestowed with the power of the Pheonix and not himself.
Clive Chooses To Become Joshua's Shield
Clive, who was not chosen as the Dominant of Pheonix, goes through training to become Joshua's Shield. In the beginning of the story, his tragedy of not being chosen as the Dominant and the complicated relationships it created are shown.
The Invasion Of Sanbreque And The Mysterious Eikon Of Fire
One night, Rosaria is invaded by The Holy Empire of Sanbreque. Clive witnesses his younger brother losing control over Pheonix and a mysterious Eikon of Fire attacking him. Clive then decides to go after the mysterious Eikon.
Finding Jill And Meeting Cid
13 years after those events, Clive was a member of the Bastards, a unit of assassins working for Sanbreque. During one of his missions, Clive finds Jill, who had become Shiva's Dominant, and also meets Cid. Clive then decides to leave Sanbreque.
Journey To Take Revenge For His Brother
After leaving Sanbreque, Clive decides to slay the Eikon of Fire that attacked his brother. He begins his journey with the help of Cid, who helps bearers.
Other Mysteries In The World
Clive discovers other mysteries during his journey such as the "Blight", where Aether is scarce and monsters wreak havoc, and "The Fallen", which is believed to have existed ages ago. The journey that began for his brother turns into the key to solve the world's mysteries.

The Story Of Valisthea
The story takes place in the land called "Valisthea". Huge crystals called "Mothercrystals" can be found in Valisthea and nations used Aether, the energy it created, to prosper and provide peace to the people.

When Aether Becomes Scarce, Peace Is Broken
Nations prospered for a long time but when Aether became scarce, the land turned black, plants began to decay, "Blight" even made it impossible to use magic. Thus began the chaotic era where countries waged war against each other for Aether.
Bearers - Those Who Use Magic
Aether, which is contained in the Mothercrystals, is normally what allows the use of magic. But Bearers are born with a rare ability to manifest Magic without using crystals and are used as slaves in Valisthea.
What Is A Bearer?Dominants Are Used As Weapons
Dominants possessed the power of Eikons and thus were used as weapons of war. But Dominants were treated quite differently depending on the country. Some countries treated them as slaves while others treated them with respect.

Mothercrystal
There are 5 of these enormous crystals located all around Valisthea. They are called Mothercrystals because they are the source of the crystals people need. It has always been a source of conflict among nations over the right to possess it.
What Is Mothercrystal?Aether
Energy derived from the land that is used to cast magic. The amount consumed depends on the magic, some consuming larger amounts of Aether.
Eikon
A godlike being that possesses extraordinary power. They appear in this world through the power of a medium, one called a Dominant. It is said that each Eikon possesses one element of magic. According to the records countries have kept, there are 8 Eikons in existence.
Dominant
One who has the power to manifest into an Eikon. Although they look and think like people, they possess overwhelming power that transcends that of a human and they are also skilled in the use of magic.
Bearer
Bearers are treated as slaves in Valisthea. Because they can use magic without any crystals, they are being used as tools.
Shield
The honor awarded to only the most skilled knights in Rosaria. The Shield is tasked to guard the Dominant of the Phoenix and blessed with the ability to wield a part of his fire.
The Fallen
An advanced civilization that prospered in prehistoric times. Ruins of what is believed to be this civilization still remain throughout Valisthea.
