Through the Maelstrom Walkthrough
Defeat Enemies
Defeat the enemies that are on the ship.
Battle With Royal Tognvaldr
When battling enemies, a powerful enemy Royal Tognvaldr will appear. It will attack with Katon and Raiton so keep a good distance and avoid.
Enter Inside And Climb Up The Stairs
Defeat all the enemies and enter the ship's door and climb up the stairs.
Defeat Enemies At Deck
When you head out to the deck, you will start a battle with enemies so defeat them all.
Battle With Warlord Sveithvaldr
Powerful Enemy Warlord Sveithvaldr will appear. It will attack with large range motion so dodge them. If you are too close then it will be hard to avoid so be careful.
From The Back Stairs, Head Down
After defeating all the enemies on deck, then head down and progress further. Inside the ship there are enemies so defeat them and proceed.
Battle With Barnabas
After the cutscene, you will be in battle with Barnabas. To finish this battle, you will need to be hit with Barnabas' [Iron Flash]. After battling for a few, it will say "Reading for Iron Flash", so use it after you are ready.
Head To The Hideaway
After the cutscene, from the World Map head to Clive's Hideaway and complete the quest. At the same time of completion, Eikon "Shiva" will be unlocked.
How To Beat Barnabas (1st Time)
When it sets for Iron Flash, focus on evading. Basic attack patterns to evade → Connect to attacks. Keep a distance to evade Lord's Measures. Watch out for the combination of Gungnir and Lord's Measures. When It Sets Iron Flash, Then Focus On Evading
When you decrease Barnabas' HP by 10%, it will set Iron Flash and releases it. After that you will not have to attack, and when Iron Flash is activated, then the battle will finish, and it will be a winning finish. Even when it is setting, it will attack so during this time, try not to lose and keep focusing on evading.
Evade From Basic Attack Patterns → Connect To Attack
Barnabas has 3 basic attacks, Thrust, Swing Down, and Cut off. Focus on evading all of them to the side and you will be able to deal with the vacuity wave pattern so this way is recommended.
Teleportation → Focus On Evading Cut Off Attacks
Teleportation to cut off attacks will release vacuity wave attacks. When you avoid to the back, then you will be inflicted by the waves so after the teleportation, watch where the enemy is going and evade sideways and avoid as much as possible.
Avoid The Lord's Measures With A Distance
The Lord's Measures is an explosive attack that releases line like objects. When you are close to the lines, then you will be inflicted by damage so it is safe to keep a distance and run away from them.
Watch Out For Combination Of The Lord's Measures And Gungnir
When Iron Flash set is activated, it will use Gungnir and combine it with Lord's Measures. Both have a wide range attack so after you run away from 1 of them you must be careful if you are not in range for the other attack.
