Check out Buu Saga Walkthrough here!Stay Within Melee Distance
Melee combo attacks are your best bet against Yakon as his high HP pool, ability to absorb Ki energy to recover, and high-damaging ranged attacks makes ranged tactics ineffective. You'll have to bash his face in if you want to win.
Meteor Smash Is Effective
Meteor Smash Special Attack is highly effective against Yakon due to its high damage, staggering effects, low Ki cost and stun gauge damage. Make sure to add it to your melee rotation.
Melee Lock Yakon To Beat Him
The best way to beat Yakon is to melee-lock him so as to prevent Yakon from using his top 2 moves - Cross Claw and Light Energy Absorption. Staying within melee range is the best offense and defense.
How To Melee-Lock Yakon
Steps | What To Do |
---|---|
1 | Charge in to get withing punching distance from Yakon. |
2 | Punch him 4~5 times, end combo with a Meteor Smash. Yakon will probably turn red at this point so get ready to dash. |
3 | Dodge from Yakon's lunge attack. Use this opening to go back to punching him & use Meteor Smash. |
4 | If he tries to get away or is knocked back, press L3 to quickly close up on him. Keep punching him! |
5 | He will keep trying to turn red and lunge you. The lunge is easy to dodge /defend from, so repeat step 3. |
6 | Rinse and repeat. You've now Melee-Locked Yakon! |
Aim For Guard Break To Out-DPS Yakon
Lock Yakon in Melee-lock without him escaping will break his Stun gauge, opening him up to devastating attacks. Use this to Out-DPS Yakon and finish the fight faster!
Yakon Abilities & Counters
Cross Claw
A fast-firing, quick-flying cross Ki-attack that is difficult to avoid with a dash when you're too close to him. Will stun if you get hit too many times. Yukon will use this sometimes in quick succession.
How To Dodge Cross Claw
Hold Down R1 to activate in-battle sprint and keep moving to one side. You will have a hard time if you rely on traditional dash-spamming due to the density of the crosses fired.
Light Energy Absorption
Absorbs your Ki-based attacks and regain HP when active. Will activate if Yakon is away from you and he senses that Ki-attacks are incoming. Only use Ki special attacks like Kamehameha after you give him a good beatdown that does not allow him to react.
