Tank and Sustain Team Features

A High-Durability Team That Outlasts Opponents With Healing

Tank and Sustain Teams consist of Universal-Type, Defense-Type, and Support-Type Heroes. The concept is a team that leverages high durability, fighting by outlasting enemies through healing.

Strong Against Physical Teams, Weak Against Magic Teams

It tends to be hard to beat and has the advantage against Physical Teams that attack with raw damage, but is at a disadvantage against Magic Teams that ignore durability and attack with Special Attacks. That said, with the recent addition of effects like Dedicated Equipment's Resilience and Rejuvenate, it's starting to become evenly matched against Magic Teams as well.

Status Ailment Teams Are a Variant

Status Ailment Teams are also a variant of Tank and Sustain Teams. These teams fight by locking down enemies with effects like Petrify or Extreme Chill, but recently many Heroes such as Elysia counter debuffs, making it harder to win purely through status ailments.

Thanks to Radgrid's Protection and Giyu Tomioka granting Damage Nullification and Damage Immunity to Universal-Type Heroes, Universal-Type Heroes are protected twice over, making this comp stand out for its high durability. If Radgrid is defeated first, Giyu Tomioka's Protection activates, continuing to protect the other Universal-Type Hero.

Tips!	Protection only activates for whichever Hero is placed earlier in the formation order, and its effects do not stack.

Must-Have Heroes for Tank and Sustain Teams

Hero	Features
Hayeon	Hayeon excels at supporting durability with Heal, Barrier, and Damage Immunity grants. Her Bleed also synergizes well with Radgrid.
Aris	Aris's damage output increases the longer the battle goes on, making her especially strong in Tank and Sustain mirror matchups. She's also useful against Physical and Magic Teams, whittling down HP with her Block-triggered effect and removing Immortality with Buff Duration Reduction.

Radgrid	Radgrid's Protection, which protects the Universal-Type Hero in the back line, pairs well with Pallanus and Gelidus, boosting the whole team's survivability.
Clemyth	Clemyth is an excellent Healer who fulfills Pallanus's Defense-Type and Support-Type team requirements while also providing support tailored to each Hero Type.
Giyu Tomioka	Giyu Tomioka is a Tank who protects Universal-Type Heroes, and his Awakening Gauge gain pairs well with Aris. Even if Radgrid is defeated first, Giyu Tomioka's Protection keeps protecting the other Universal-Type Hero.
Gelidus	Not only does Extreme Chill lock down enemies and deal damage, it also restores HP when Extreme Chill wears off, making Gelidus a Status Ailment Hero that fits perfectly into Tank and Sustain Teams.
Eileene	Eileene is a solid choice as a Debuffer who can apply Defense Reduction and Incoming Healing Reduction if you're keeping Tank and Sustain mirror matchups in mind. Since she's a Universal-Type Hero, Radgrid's Protection can boost her survivability.
Pallanus	Pallanus's Defense-Type/Support-Type team requirements and Incoming Healing Boost are a perfect fit for Tank and Sustain Teams. Her HP Swap and party-wide Debuff Removal also give you more ways to win against Magic Teams, which is another reason to include her.
Rudy	Rudy's Link pairs well with Aris, whose Awakening Gauge rises when she takes damage. Being able to reduce the enemy Aris's Awakening Gauge is another strength.
Sun Wukong	Sun Wukong has excellent Healer performance thanks to All-Target Heal on skill use combined with Cooldown Reduction when taking damage. He also deals solid damage, making him a great Attacker for Tank and Sustain Teams.
Spike	Spike's Effect Hit Rate Boost passive pairs well with Heroes like Aris and Gelidus. His Effect Resist Boost and Debuff Removal are also effective in a status-ailment-heavy meta.
Lina	Lina is one of the top Healers, making it easier to grind out wins in Tank and Sustain mirror matchups. Her Effect Resist Boost also makes it harder for Rudy's Link to be stripped, which is another benefit.
Ace	Ace's Incoming Healing Reduction is his strength, and he's especially effective if you want to counter an enemy Sun Wukong. Being a Universal-Type Hero, his synergy with Gelidus is another benefit.
Mist	Mist is a Status Ailment Hero who inflicts Fear and Death, and being a Universal-Type Hero, she pairs well with Radgrid. She especially shines in Tank and Sustain mirror matches.
Elysia	Elysia's strength is her Debuff Removal on skill use, which especially shines in a status-ailment-heavy meta. Her Silence application also fits well with Tank/Status Ailment parties.
Rosie	Rosie is a powerful Healer who can Revive 2 allies or the whole team. Her Effect Probability Boost passive makes her an excellent fit for Tank/Status Ailment parties.
Trude	Trude is a high-durability Crit Attacker whose Crowd Control Immunity lets her keep acting even in a status-ailment-heavy meta. That said, she's at a disadvantage against Magic Teams built around Freyja.
Karma	Karma is a high-durability Attacker/Support Hero, and his Damage Boost for Universal-Type Heroes is also great to take advantage of in Tank/Status Ailment parties. That said, he's at a disadvantage against Magic Teams built around Freyja.
Nia	Nia is useful as a wide-range Status Ailment Hero specializing in Shock. Her Cooldown Increase is also a great effect in PvP.
Jave	Jave applies Burn and Stun, and his frequent Counterattacks mean equipping a status ailment ring lets him land even more status ailments.

Best Pets for Tank and Sustain Teams

Karam if You Prioritize Block Rate

Karam can grant Block Rate Boost and Damage Resistance, making it a great pick when running a Hero like Aris who relies on high Block Rate. It becomes even more useful alongside Rudy, since its Damage Resistance effect also stacks.

Ruu Pairs Especially Well With Radgrid

Ruu can significantly raise Defense, making it especially great when you want to boost the durability of Radgrid's healing and Barriers. It becomes easier to withstand both Physical and Magic attackers.

Pike for Debuff Countermeasures

Pike raises Defense and Effect Resistance, making it a great pick when you specifically want Debuff Countermeasures. It's a solid option if your team has few Debuff Removal Heroes, or if you want to counter status ailments like Skuld's Cooldown Increase or Death.

Jeb for a Healing-Focused Team

Jeb can grant Incoming Healing Boost and Damage Resistance, making it useful when you want to boost the healing output of Heroes like Clemyth or Radgrid. That said, in the current meta, surviving enemy attacks is more important, so Karam and Ruu take priority over it.

Merparrow for a Debuff-Focused Approach

For a purely Tank and Sustain-focused team, it's better to boost durability with Karam or Ruu, but when attacking mainly through debuffs such as Death, Merparrow, which raises Effect Probability and Effect Hit Rate, is useful instead.
