The first time you rest at the Site of Grace: Gatefront in western Limgrave, Melina will show up and start a conversation with you. Here, you will receive a request from her that you can either accept or reject.

Once you say yes to Melina's request, you will be able to level up and increase your stats at Site of Graces from then on. Stats are important since this will determine your build and which weapons you can use.
If You Refuse, You Can Take The Deal At The Site Of Grace Again
Even if you initially refuse Melina's request, you can simply rest at the Site of Grace again and select the "Talk to Melina" option. This time, Melina can be spoken to at any Site of Grace you use.
