Killing Him Is Fine If You Only Want The Equipment
Instead of completing his questline, you can get the same equipment by simply killing him. If you're only after the equipment, there's no need to continue the quest; simply kill him as soon as you see him.
Great Rune Adds A New Ending
When the final boss is defeated, a part of the ending will change if you have obtained the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse, which can be obtained by progressing to the end of the Dung Eater questline. If you want to get all endings, you must progress through the Dung Eater questline.

Dung Eater will only appear at Roundtable Hold after interacting with the Site of Grace in Altus Plateau. You can find an open door at the back of Roundtable Hold where the Two Maiden Husks are located. Speak to the Dung Eater. If you can't find him, proceed with the main story.
Main Story Walkthrough
After obtaining the Seedbed Curse, speak to Dung Eater at Roundtable Hold once more. He will give you the Sewer-Gaol Key and ask you to release the his body in the sewers of the Royal Capital.
▼ Where To Obtain Seedbed Curse
From the Avenue Balcony site of grace in Leyndell, Royal Capital, head right from the platform and enter the well while avoiding the enemies. Since it is quite difficult to follow the route towards the well, please refer to the videos for instructions.
How To Go To The Forsaken Depths
How To Go To The Forsaken Depths [Ashen Capital]
Use the Sewer-Gaol Key to enter the prison and speak to the Dung Eater. Tell him to leave the gaol. Afterwards, rest at a site of grace. You will see that the Dung Eater has disappeared so proceed to the next step.
Dispose Of Small Fry Enemies In Advance
There will be several small fry enemies (spider hands) that should be dealt with before talking to the Dung Eater. If the Dung Eater gets killed by the enemies' attack, you won't be able to proceed with the quest.
Once you hear the "May the curse never end" line from the Dung Eater in the sewers, head back to the Roundtable Hold and go to the usual location of the Dung Eater. When you get to Roundtable Hold, you will see a message stating "I will defile you next. Meet me in the outer moat."
Move Blackguard Big Boggart [Important]

After proceeding with the NPC questline of the thief in the Boilprawn Shack in Liurnia and purchasing Boiled Prawn, the thief will move to the pond near the outer wall of the Royal Capital. If you let the thief move, you can obtain one of the Seedbed Curses in the quest that follows.

Go to the pond northwest of the Capital Rampart site of grace and defeat the Dung Eater as he enters. If you had purchased Boiled Prawn from Blackguard Big Boggart, you will find him tied up. Take note that the Dung Eater will invade you after you talk to Blackguard Big Boggart.

After defeating the invading Dung Eater, head to the Roundtable Hold and talk to Dung Eater. Afterwards, head to the Forsaken Depths and talk to the tied up Dung Eater.
Speak to the Dung Eater and give him the Seedbed Curses. After giving him 5 Seedbed Curses, you will complete the quest and obtain the Omen Armor Set as well as the Mending Rune Of The Fell Curse.
You Can Give Seluvis's Potion Instead
If you have received the potion in Seluvis's questline, you can hand it over to the Dung Eater alternatively. However, if Seluvis is dead, he cannot give you the potion. If the Dung Eater drinks Seluvis's Potion, the "Dung Eater Puppet" will be available in Seluvis's quest.

No Need To Collect All Seedbed Curses
You will only need 5 Seedbed Curses to progress in the Dung Eater questline. There are 6 confirmed Seedbed Curses, so there is no need to collect them all. It's best to collect them only to progress the Dung Eater quest.

If you progress with the Blackguard Big Boggart's questline in advance, you can obtain one of the Seedbed Curses once you progress through Dung Eater's quest. To avoid the trouble of obtaining the Seedbed Curse at Volcano Manor, it is highly recommended that you get it during the Dung Eater quest.
