What are Perfect Assists?
Action to Parry Enemy Attacks by Changing Character
Perfect Assists in Zenless Zone Zero are special actions that occur by changing your character according to the enemy's attack (Golden Prompt). There are two types of Perfect Assists: Defensive Assist, which parries attacks, and Evasive Assist, which Dodges attacks.
Combat System GuideCheck the Type of Perfect Assists in the Skills Column
The type of ultimate assist is determined for each character. The close-range type features many Defensive Assists, while the long-range type includes many Evasive Assists. You can also check the types of skills a character possesses in the Skills column of the character details.
Tips! | Defensive Assist is used by characters with large weapons such as swords, and Evasive Assist is used by characters with small weapons such as guns. |

There Are Attacks That Can Only Be Prevented by One or the Other
There are three types of enemy attacks: those that can be blocked with either option, those that can only be blocked with Defensive Assist, and those that can only be blocked with Evasive Assist. When forming a team, be careful not to bias your characters too heavily toward either Defensive Assist or Evasive Assist.
Assist Follow-up is Activated When Attacking After Perfect Assists
Pressing Basic Attack after Perfect Assist will activate a special attack called Assist Follow-Up. Since you are Invulnerable during Assist Follow-Up, you can deal damage while ignoring enemy attacks. If your vision becomes Inky after activating Perfect Assists, you will no longer be able to Assist Follow-Up.
Perfect Assists Types and Effects
Accumulate Daze with Defensive Assist
By activating Defensive Assist, you can deflect and prevent enemy attacks. While active, you can obtain the Invulnerable effect, which allows you to interrupt most attacks. Also, Defensive Assist allows you to accumulate a large amount of enemy Daze.
Reduce Enemy Action Speed With Evasive Assist
By activating Evasive Assist, you can significantly slow down the enemy's movement speed. Although it cannot accumulate Daze or similar effects, it allows for Perfect Assists against long-range attacks, and its Invulnerable effect lasts a long time, making it easier to avoid enemy attacks.
Perfect Assists Activation Conditions and how to Accumulate Assist Points
Assist Points Are Required to Activate
Assist Points are consumed to activate Perfect Assists. Perfect Dodge requires a fixed consumption of 1 point, while Defensive Assist’s point consumption varies depending on the enemy's attack and the character's performance.
Earn 1 Point with Chain Attack
By activating Chain Attack, you can accumulate 1 Assist Point. To activate Chain Attack, you need to stun the enemy, so use a character with the Stun Attribute to cause Daze.
Chain Attack GuideEarn 3 points in Ultimate
When you activate Ultimate, you will accumulate 3 Assist Points. Assist Points can only be accumulated up to a maximum of 6 points, so it is a good idea to spend some before using Ultimate.
Ultimate Skill GuideHow to Use Perfect Assists
Change Character According to the Golden Prompt
Smartphone | Press when the golden prompt appears |
---|---|
Controller | R1 or RB button when golden prompt is displayed *At initial setting |
Keyboard/Mouse | Space key when golden prompt appears *At initial setting |
Perfect Assists can be activated by switching characters according to enemy attacks. Switch characters according to the golden prompt that appears just before an enemy attack.
Skills You Switched to Are Activated
When you activate Perfect Assists, the assist of the character you switched to will be activated. Please note that the skills of the character you are controlling before activation will not be activated. You can check the character that will change next from the top left of the screen.
Tips! | If the second character does not meet the conditions to activate Perfect Assists, and the third character does, it will switch to the third character. |

Perfect Assists Cannot Be Performed (Red Flashing Prompt)
Attacks that cannot be Perfect Assisted will display a red flashing prompt. If you try to perform a Perfect Assist on that attack, a Perfect Dodge will occur instead of a Perfect Assist.
Perfect Dodge & Dodge Counter GuideThe Character's Type Does Not Correspond to the Enemy's Attack
Perfect Assists are set to either "Defensive Assist" or "Evasive Assist" depending on the character. Since there are enemy attacks that can be blocked by either and those that can be blocked by either, Perfect Assists will not be possible if the character you are replacing (the character performing Perfect Assists) is not able to respond to the enemy's attack.
Not Enough Assist Points
If you don't have enough Assist Points, you won't be able to perform Perfect Assists. The points consumed will vary depending on the enemy's attack and the character's performance, so be sure to always maintain at least 2 points, as 1 point may result in a misfire.
There Are Attacks That Cannot Be Perfect Assisted
Depending on the enemy, there are attacks that cannot be Perfect Assisted. Try to handle attacks that display a red flashing prompt when you have 2 Assist Points by using Dodge or the Invulnerable effect from Skills.
What Happens if Perfect Assists fails?
In the Case of the Perfect Assists Timing Being Too Early
If the timing of the change is too early, it will be treated as a basic character change. When a character is replaced, the character before being replaced remains on the screen, so the character before being replaced will receive damage.
If the Timing is Too Late
If you switch too late, Perfect Assists will not activate and you will be attacked by the enemy. If you are blown away, you can activate Quick Assist, so you can smoothly return to the battle. Quick Assist
Perfect Assists Aiming Tips
Pay Attention to the Enemy's Attack Move
When aiming for Perfect Assists, it will be easier to activate them if you pay attention to the enemy's attack motion. The flash appears only momentarily, so if you focus solely on the flash, your reaction may be delayed. Instead, by paying close attention to the enemy's movements as they prepare to attack, you can better time the flash prompts.
Look at the Enemy Instead of Yourself While Attacking
Perfect Assists can be activated during attack motions or defeat motions. Therefore, it is important to always keep an eye on the enemy's movements, even while attacking or taking damage.
Listen to the Sound When the Flash Occurs
A sound effect will play just before a Perfect Assists possible attack (golden prompt) occurs. Attacks from off-screen also make the same sound, so if you time it right, you'll be able to successfully activate it.
Also Uses Perfect Dodge
Perfect Assists require Assist Points. When there are multiple enemies or the attacks are intense, accidents are likely to occur if you aim to activate it with every attack. Be sure to also consider dodging enemy attacks and use Perfect Dodge effectively.
Simultaneous Activation of Perfect Dodge and Defensive Assist
Damage Dealt Increases When Activated Simultaneously
Although the difficulty level is quite high, Perfect Dodge and Defensive Assist can be activated at the same time. By doing this, you can add damage by the amount of Dodge Counter after Perfect Dodge, so you can deal damage more efficiently than Basic.
Tips! | Normal operations often result in 'only Defensive Assist' or 'only replacing after Dodge Counter.' If successful, it will appear as if two people are attacking simultaneously. |

Detailed Operating Procedures
1 | Activate Perfect Dodge early against enemy attacks |
---|---|
2 | Quickly input an attack and issue a Dodge Counter |
3 | Activates Defensive Assist almost at the same time as Dodge Counter. |
The sequence involves activating Perfect Dodge (Time Slowing) → Dodge Counter → Defensive Assist (Perfect Dodge) in rapid succession the moment the enemy lights up. Be careful: if the first Perfect Dodge is too slow, the enemy's attack will end, preventing you from activating the final Defensive Assist.
