While exploring the oceans of Subnautica 2, your survival depends on monitoring the gauges in the bottom-left corner of the screen. Ignoring these meters can quickly lead to health loss and death.

All Stats Explained
Health (HP)

Your Health meter represents your physical condition and caps at 100. It decreases when taking damage from hostile alien creatures, environmental hazards, drowning, or starvation. If your Health reaches 0, you will die and trigger the reprinting penalty.

You can recover Health by using First Aid Kits, which can be crafted or found inside Supply Crates. You can also consume a Medical Gel Sac for a small amount of health.
Oxygen (O2)

Oxygen is your most important stat while diving. Your base O2 cap starts at 45. The Oxygen meter drains continuously while underwater, and running out of Oxygen causes your vision to fade before eventually leading to drowning and death if you cannot reach safety in time.
Oxygen Cap is Upgradeable
The starting Oxygen cap of 45 is not enough for deeper or longer expeditions, so upgrading it early is highly recommended. You can increase your Oxygen capacity by crafting an Air Tank.

The most common way to restore Oxygen is by swimming back to the surface. You can also refill it instantly by entering your Lifepod, sea bases, Air Bladder, or vehicles. While exploring deeper areas, Oxygen Tunic releases bubbles and Portable Oxygen can provide emergency breathable air.

Your Water meter represents your hydration level and caps at 100. Unlike starvation, reaching 0 Water causes immediate death instead of gradual HP loss. Regularly drinking Water or Isotonic Water is essential during exploration.

You can restore Water by drinking Water or Isotonic Water crafted at the Fabricator. In emergencies, eating a raw Water Slug from your inventory provides a small hydration boost, but it also lowers your Food meter.
