How to Fix Digestive Incompatibility

The ocean is full of fish but you should avoid eating them when you start the game. That is because of the Digestive Incompatibility, a starting condition that blocks your character from processing alien food. Until it is cured, your only safe food source are Nutrient Blocks, found in supply crates around the early biomes.
Unlock Digestion Adaptation

The cure comes from the Angel Comb, located approximately 160 meters north-northeast of the Lifepod. It is a massive glowing pink-and-purple plant. You can track it through NOA's signal about a colonist named Anita. Interact with the Angel Comb to unlock Digestion Adaptation.

Once you have the Digestion Adaptation, here are some local fish you can feast on:
Cooked Fish

Four fish swim in the shallow waters near the Lifepod: Halfmoon, Harvestmoon, Bluemoon, and Geordie. All are easy to catch and can be cooked at the Fabricator.
Geordie is the easiest to catch among these fishes. While the other three swim in fast-moving schools, Geordies attach themselves to corals and swim slower.

| Cooked Halfmoon | Halfmoon x1 | +25 Food |
| Cooked Harvestmoon | Harvestmoon x1 | +30 Food |

Pavlova

Pavlova is the top food in the game. It restores food, water, and health all at once, which means fewer inventory slots used on survival items and more room for loot.
Deepwing Egg Clump

Deepwing Egg Clump is another great food resource. No crafting needed, and it restores both food and water. The only downside is that you'll have to wait or track a herd of Deepwing Brooders to drop these eggs.
Threemoon Temaki

Threemoon Temaki is your best pick for long supply runs. It requires three different fish types and Fibrous Pulp, but the +60 food and +15 health in a single inventory slot will allow you to explore the deeps longer.
