Interact to Obtain Adaptations
Angel Combs are important alien organisms in Subnautica 2 that grant your Pioneer powerful Adaptations. These biological upgrades enhance your body's capabilities, allowing you to survive hazardous deep-sea biomes and interact with advanced alien technology required to progress through the story.

Angel Comb 1 (Pressure Tolerance)
Encountered during the opening prologue, this first Angel Comb serves as part of the game's tutorial. It requires no special tools to interact with and automatically grants the Pressure Tolerance Adaptation, allowing you to safely explore deeper areas early on.

This Angel Comb can be found hovering directly above Anita's Blackbox. Approach the glowing alien organism and interact with it to overcome your digestive incompatibility and unlock fish-cooking recipes.

The Angel Comb containing the Heat Tolerance Adaptation is located near Wander's Blackbox. The surrounding area is heavily infected with Bloom Cankers, meaning you must fully cleanse the infection before the upgrade becomes accessible.
Requires a Sonic Resonator
Before obtaining this Angel Comb, you will need to destroy the Bloom Cankers using a Sonic Resonator. Make sure to bring one before heading into the area.
How to Cleanse the Angel Comb in Anemone Hills
- Go to Wander's Blackbox Location
- Destroy the First Juvenile Bloom Cankers
- Locate and Cleanse the Second Juvenile Angel Comb
- Purify the Main Angel Comb Core
Go to Wander's Blackbox Location
The third Angel Comb is located inside the Anemone Hills biome. You will need a Sonic Resonator to enter the cave, so bring one along and destroy the Bloom Cankers blocking the entrance.
Destroy the Bloom Cankers
Inside the area, you will find an infected Juvenile Angel Comb. Use the Sonic Resonator to destroy all nearby Bloom Cankers. Be cautious, as Bloom Parasites and other hostile creatures can appear nearby, so bringing Med Kits is highly recommended.
Juvenile Angel Comb Blooms After Being Cleansed
You can confirm the infection has been fully removed once the Juvenile Angel Comb blooms. Its appearance will noticeably change compared to when you first discovered it.
Locate the Second Juvenile Angel Comb
Follow the roots deeper into the area until you reach the main Angel Comb. You will not be able to purify it yet, so continue following the nearby roots to locate and cleanse the second infected Juvenile Angel Comb.
Purify the Main Angel Comb
Once both Juvenile Angel Combs have been completely cleansed, return to the main Angel Comb structure. Its protective shield will now deactivate, allowing you to destroy the remaining core cankers, expose the pink nucleus, and unlock the Heat Tolerance Adaptation.

This Angel Comb is hidden deep within the caverns beneath the massive orb-shaped alien tower. Since the area sits around 400 meters deep, attempting the trip without a Tadpole equipped with the Depth Module Mk. 1, is extremely risky.

You will need to upgrade the Sonic Resonator to a Feedback Resonator, for this one. Unlike the standard Blue Bloom Cankers, these advanced Armored Bloom Cankers have evolved defensive behavior. They will snap themselves shut when your Pioneer gets too close, making the regular Sonic Resonator ineffective at close range.

- Cleanse the 3 Juvenile Angel Combs First
- Destroy Armored Bloom Cankers From Long Range
- Cleanse the Main Angel Comb
Cleanse the 3 Juvenile Angel Combs First
Just like the previous Angel Comb encounter, follow the purple roots to locate the smaller Juvenile Angel Combs and destroy all nearby Armored Bloom Cankers. There are three Juvenile Angel Combs in total, and each one will bloom once fully cleansed. This time, all Bloom Cankers will appear in pink variants.
Destroy Armored Bloom Cankers From Long Range
Since the pink cankers shut themselves when approached, you will need to rely on ranged attacks instead of close-range cleansing. Equip the Feedback Resonator and destroy the Armored Bloom Cankers safely from a distance.
One Is Hidden Inside the Cicada Wreck (Stairway to Heaven)
If you are having trouble locating the third Juvenile Angel Comb, you will need to enter the Cicada Wreck (Stairway to Heaven). Destroy the Bloom Cankers blocking the entrance, then search for the opening leading to the hidden Juvenile Angel Comb and cleanse it.
Cleanse the Main Angel Comb
After cleansing all three infected Juvenile Angel Combs, the infection surrounding the main Angel Comb will finally appear. Destroy the Armored Bloom Cankers, then interact with the core to obtain the Axum Vision Adaptation. Your next task is to repair the Power Plant's turbine.
