What Is Heat Intolerance in Subnautica 2?

Because you are alien to this world, your character cannot survive temperatures above 80 degrees Celsius. As you approach the hot biome east of the starting area, a red half-circle temperature gauge appears on your HUD. From 30 to 79 degrees Celsius, you take continuous damage the longer you stay. Above 80 degrees, the damage accelerates rapidly and can kill you quickly.

Tip!	The Hot Caves and the Tadpole Pens are both locked behind this barrier. You cannot reach them without the Heat Tolerance Adaptation.

What You Need Before Starting

Sonic Resonator	Lead x2 Wiring Kit x1 Basic Battery x1 Titanium Ingot x2	Fabricator

You need one thing before you can start: a Sonic Resonator. Bloom Cankers cannot be destroyed by hand or any other tool.
The blueprint for the Sonic Resonator can be found in Quaker's blackbox.

Tip!	Bring Distraction Flares and First Aid Kits. The final Bloom site is guarded by a Marrowbreach, and it becomes significantly more aggressive once Bloom Parasites attach to it.

How to Get the Heat Tolerance Adaptation

Subnautica 2 Getting the Heat Tolerance Adaptation

The Heat Tolerance Adaptation is locked inside an infected Angel Comb. To access it, you must clear three Bloom infestations in a specific order. Each site has Bloom Cankers surrounding a central Bloom Core. Destroy all the Cankers at a site to cleanse it.

Tip!	The third site must be done last. Its Bloom Cankers are invulnerable until both other sites have been cleared.

Order	Location
Site 1	Below the Spider Dome, 230m WSW of the Lifepod. Blast the viral bloom blocking the way down to access this site.
Site 2	Edge of the Jelly Barrens, 240m NNW of the Lifepod
Site 3	200m NW of the Lifepod Coordinates: -30280, 455154, -24253 Guarded by a Marrowbreach. Bloom Parasites attach to it as you clear Bloom Cankers, making it more aggressive. Use Distraction Flares and destroy Cankers quickly.

At each site, use your Sonic Resonator to destroy every Bloom Canker surrounding the Bloom Core. Once all Cankers are gone, the Core opens and the infestation is cleansed. In total, you will destroy nine Bloom Cankers across the three sites.

After Site 3 is cleared, the Angel Comb inside reveals its core. Interact with the central pink bulb to unlock the Heat Tolerance Adaptation.

What Changes After the Adaptation

High Heat Tolerance

The Heat Tolerance Adaptation raises your survivable temperature threshold to over 100 degrees Celsius. The previously lethal temperature becomes fully survivable.

Access Hot Caves and Tadpole Pens

The Hot Caves and Tadpole Pens are now accessible for full exploration.

New resources Unlock

New resources unlock including Salt, Sulfur, and Gold found in the area.
